Well, it's February 20th. We had a little snow this weekend and then it got almost Spring-like warm by today. Not only that, but right now, as I type, it is thundering and lightning in the distance. Yep, from snow to thunderstorms, all in the space of just a few days. Welcome to East Tennessee. As they say, if you don't like the weather in East Tennessee, stick around - it'll be different tomorrow.
What all this means as a Mustang driver? Looks like tomorrow won't be the day I get the Mustang out for the first time in a couple of months.
Me and my wife are visiting next month, "Gatlinburg" how do u think the weather will be? A little snow is fine.
Ther eMight e a day of Snow in March, but mostly somewhere between 50-70 and Partly Cloudy
JB, you think this weather is crazy, visit Ohio in March... you Run the A/C and heater in the same day sometimes.
Heck it was warm enough this evening when I left the gym, that I had a brief moment of thought to put on a big coat and drop the top for a short drive.
I didn't because folks would have known I was from the north

Hard to determine at this time of year - especially in the Gatlinburg area. My wife and I spent this past weekend with some friends at a rental cabin in the Sevierville/Pigeon Forge area and had breakfast in Gatlinburg yesterday morning. There was light snowfall this weekend, but most of it had melted by Sunday afternoon and the roads were in pretty good shape.
Are you visiting early or late in March? Early in the month, the weather probably won't have changed much from now - still coolish and a chance of snow in the higher elevations around Gatlinburg. Later in the month and there is still some chance of snow, especially up there, but you will most likely see the earliest indications that Spring is in the air. Honestly, if I were packing for a stay in Gatlinburg in March, especially late March, I'd probably pack jeans, a couple of sweatshirts/long-sleeved shirts, a couple of t-shirts, a pair or two of shorts and a jacket - yep, it can be that confusing. Depending on the time of week you are there, you might also see some pretty heavy crowds. If there is a rod run planned in Pigeon Forge during the time you are going to be there, the road between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge will get really crowded.
BTW, in case NGHTRNNR reads this thread, I was going to stop at 'Cooter's' yesterday and get some good pics of the General for you but the place was absolutely packed! I've never seen Gatlinburg that busy on a weekday morning. I guess some folks were enjoying their long weekend. I'm going to make it my mission to get some pics for you. Maybe I can even park my Mustang close enough that it will qualify for that thread you started a few months back with pictures of our cars in famous places, etc.
Same kind of weather here.Saw lightening the other
night and last night it snowed on the mountain behind
our house and alot in Flagstaff?? Crazy. I wore a short
sleeve shirt for most of the day though??
For me no choice drive the stang or walk

I wonder how many states use that line about changing weather every day, we do....Last April one week it got up to 80, we had nice green grass, trees were buddding, birds singing, then the week after, we got 5 inches of snow.

Yep, it's nutty! I was running around in G'burg Freezing on Sunday and then skiing in NC on Monday and Tuesday. Stopped through Pigeon Forge this afternoon to let the kids watch their old man humiliate a bunch of non-driving, no-talent #3 wannabes at a go-cart track, needed the sunglasses and didn't need a jacket. Literally five minutes after we got off the track it was pouring down and at least 10 degrees cooler. We made the 30 minute trip to Knoxville and as I type this it's sunny, I've got the windows of the condo open and am enjoying the view of the Holston River as the UT rowing team sneaks past. The AmSouth Bank building says it's 66 degrees. Nutty, I tell ya.

On my drive home from work today, during the time I wasn't on the Interstate, I had my window down and my left elbow resting on the door. It was actually warm enough that I could have left the window down all the way, but the mud tires on the Bronco II make a good bit of noise at higher speeds, so I rolled the window up and turned the vent on 'cool' at full blast - I can already see I'll need to fix the a/c if I am going to drive it much this Summer. Luckily, the Mustang - which will be seeing plenty of use pretty soon - has an a/c that works just fine.
