Hey guys/gals, I need some help here..... I'm currently selling my home, and would like some info on Kentucky from those in the area. I need to get someplace warm so I can drive the 'Stang year round. My Brother owns land just outside Campbellsville, and I'm going down there in a couple weeks to check out the area. I've been to Ky once, but not for prospective living. Any help would be appreciated...... Thanks, Tom
Winter is not as severe there, but it does get cold, and snow.

I work in Louisville Kentucky, and live 44 miles from the stateline. I can tell you the weather is just about as predictable as a Chevrolet...not very reliable!
I don't even look at the weather forecast anymore until the very day it's on. Good luck finding someplace warm in the winter. Maybe closer to Tennessee and that's still cold.
The Ohio river valley is not a good place for predictable weather. Campbellsville, Wax, Glasgow, Leitchfield and all surounding areas included

I live in Ft Knox right now, about 30-45 min south of Louisville. The weather is fairly temperate, there was only one snow fall worth mentioning and it melted the same day. I think it dropped below freezing for around a 2 weeks then jumped back up to the 50s. The thing that will get you is the rain. It has rained, and rained, and rained since I got here. The locals say that this has been one of the heaviest years for rain tho. Generally from what I have noticed the storm belts pass just north of where I am and hit Nothern Louisville and Indiana.
Housing prices are decent (Im from NY so maybe Im a little off). You can generally find a house for sale real easy, 3bed, 2 bath, double garage for 200,000-350,000 depending on the square footage.
Keep in mind I have only been here for a year, so my experiance is not vast by any means.
The line for snow is an elevation change just south of the KY/TN border. North of the line gets much more snow than south of the line does, but neither side of that line gets what could qualify as "a lot." I drive up and down I-65 several times every winter and have never seen more than a couple of inches on the ground through there. I don't know too much about the area up around Campbellsville but I have some friends east of there in Lexington and they love the area. He collects old Jaguars and Triumphs (and one Ferrari) and drives them year-round.
The thing is, if it DOES snow, it's gone within a week. You'll definitely be the only one in your neighborhood with a snowmobile!

As you see Louisville is the best place. And actually from what I can remember every other year we get a alot of snow. We where posed to git it this year but we didnt. Never been to Cambellsville sadly, but most of the state is pretty much the same I guess. When you move here Check out Kerns Mustang Graveyard on Poplar Level.

Think about NE Oklahoma/NWArkansas, too. Awesome drives, great weather, and low cost of living. .

I'm in Northern Kentucky (Erlanger)...about 20 minutes from Cincinnati, and we get pretty much snow here. Usually the big storms that come out of the North West pass through Cincinnati and Northern KY, but don't usually get down past Louisville & Lexington. We had one real bad snow storm this year where they let us go home early. Last year when it stormed, they didn't let us go home early and it took me about 3.5 hours to get home when it usually takes 20 minutes...so we do get snow storms up here. But, we also get blasting heat in the summer...we get it all. Our weather is a little more predictable than down south since the jet stream seems to blow it through real quick and regular. What's good about Northern KY is you get the KY living on this side of the river, but still get to enjoy all of the Cincy stuff they have without living over there. If you travel a lot for work, NKY/Cincy Airport is actually in NKY and one of Delta's hubs so it is a huge airport and is also an international airport.

We visited there a couple years ago when my Son graduated from basic at Ft Knox. We stayed in Louisville, and went over to Lexington and down to Princeton to look over Cumberland College. We will be closer to Bowling Green than anything. I'm taking my Daughter with me so we can look over school, dance academies, real estate, and of course the mall for her......
Bowling Green, home of Western Kentucky University, Beech Bend Raceway (where the NMRA Finals are held each year) and the Corvette museum. Oh, well, no place is perfect.

your daughter seems real upset Tom, as I would be too. I hope she will be okay with the change of scenery, hey- theres a mall, what girl wouldn't be - but seriously, look out for her. I hope there havent been misunderstandings surrounding the move.
I live in Lexington, and have lived in Kentucky my entire life. The weather here is VERY random. Especially early spring/late fall. I grew up in Casey County, which is practically next door to Campbellsville and it is a very nice and quiet place.
