I am glad to hear you are essentially happy with the results. Fortunately for you, you apparrently know how to wet sand then buff it to make it appear better.
well here it is....its not that bad. i will have to wet sand it and give it a good buff, but its better than i thought. they charged me a grand because it needed a little body work that i couldnt do.
but i figure once the windows are tinted and the trim is painted it wont look half bad!
Looks real nice. For the money ou can't go wrong.
I have no issues with using them on any of my old cars just to spruce it up a bit.

Yea, that is kind of how I feel about it...
For an older car or a driver, it beats faded or peeling paint... The sun gets them here in Phoenix.
HOWEVER, there is no way on earth that they would touch my 98GT. They have started running ads here in Phx, saying that they are the colision specialists. Um... Ok....

Listen closely. Aren't they saying something like they're collision COSMETIC specialists?
It's some bullcrap.
Your car still have a wicked pull to the right, but it'll look OK.

Nope, I am quite sure it says COLLSION. even has it in print on the screen. I found it tough to swallow too. Pretty sure it would not be within factory specs when it is over...

Don't forget that Maaco is a franchise and each one is independently owned and operated.
Overall thier reputation is low but there are some good ones out there, it just depends on who owns them and the individuals that actually work there. Just like the paint will depend a lot on the person behind the gun. You have some people who can paint and others who shouldn't be in the spray room.
Also keep in mind when you hear someone complaining about thier paint that they may have gone for the $200 special. You can't expect much for that, but many people do, and expect the car to look like it came from a showroom. Heck $200 won't even cover the paint, reducer, and hardner from my local DuPont supplier if I did it myself! I know on the lower end paint jobs they use a low quality paint and that's the only way you can make a profit with a $200 or $500 paint job.
I should say that I don't work for Maaco and never have. I have looked into them to paint my car though and read up on many stories people had about them. There's one local to me that does good paint work and they constantly have older vehicles in there. Thier bodywork definitely lacks but they do pretty good in the paint department......as long as you stick to the higher end paint jobs. I expect to pay $1500-$2000 for paint ONLY on my Mustang. All other work I'm doing myself to keep costs down including disassembly, most prep, and reassembly. It's still cheaper than regular bodyshops.
I'd love to paint my car myself but I really don't have a proper place and equipment to spray and I'm too close to my neighbors.
