Do they even allow outside maps? I keep seeing images of them all relying on the little maps the show hands out.
Mile counts is another good way to avoid missed turns - absolutely a good idea if they let it in the mix.
yeah, the first thing one of the teams did was to buy ALL of the maps at the truck stop so the others would have to stop 2x.

yeah they've got some kind of weird walkie talkie, The phones nowadays could be programmed with GPS.

You know, this thread is right. The imports ARE getting massacred. In large part due to mechanical inferiority.
Consider this...
Lambo out due to clutch issues mainly. $10K and 20 hours to repair +/-
Nissan out due to eating a bearing I believe. MOTOR DONE
Civic out due to boneheads behind the wheel
My conclusion, the ricers can make the cars fast but at a very real price. They really loose reliability. You can push 500+ ponies out of the Nissan for a WHILE but it is a ticking timebomb. Look at the WS6 and the F-150, both modified for speed. They are really pretty rock solid. You start with a better base for speed to begin with.
They just cannot push the ricer stuff as long or as hard as you can the domestic stuff. They are already asking WAY more of those machines than any engineer ever intended. You simply cannot do that on a daily basis day after day and not have issues.
I admit the LAMBO is a different deal altogether. But HOLY CRAP, hit a racoon and do 60K damage? And pay $200K+ for the priviledge? Am I the only one who does not consider that a bargain? Bet it would not have even done any damage to our mustangs. Wouldn't have even scratched the bumper on the F-150. (Who by the way put the sucker through a BRICK WALL and is still driving...)
BTW, I am still ranked #1 for BULLRUN as of 5 minutes ago...

yeah, I was surprised they didn't fix the pushrod that night! Unless they were running some kind of stroker, they could have gotten a serviceable one from a junkyard.

I picked the F150 to win early on. We'll see if I'm right. I think the Olds will be the next to go.
