Hello everyone! I haven't posted in awhile so I figured now would be a good time. I ran across a new 2003 Cobra yesterday. Those cars are SWEET!. That was the first one I've seen in person. None of the pictures I've seen do this car justice. Camaro's eat your heart out!! We didn't get all crazy and drive like idiots, but we took off from a light and raced till about 50 mph. I pulled about a half a car link on him at 50 so I guess my car's not running too shabby. I haven't run nitrous on my car since I've done heads, TB, MAF, injectors, and smog eliminator pulley. If the new Cobra will run high 12's then I should hopefully be in the 11's on the nitrous. I stopped and talked to the guy driving the Cobra and he was a totally cool guy. Unlike most F-Body owners I've run across. I was trying to decide which car to get next between a Saleen S281 SC, and a new Cobra. After seeing a new Cobra on the street, I think I'd take one of those over a Saleen. Are there any new Cobra owners on this message board??? If so, how do you like it?
To 50mph? LOL the Cobra was still in 1st gear! I guarantee if the Cobra driver punched it in first, 0-50 he would've been almost a car and a half in front. When that supercharger kicks in at 2000-4000 rpm the mph comes at a quick rate! Yes I have one and have gotten on it! This car is FAST!!! I to was looking at the S-281 vs the Cobra and the look and price of the Cobra was way better $45,000 for the Saleen and $34,000 for the Cobra. Also I looked at both a 2002 Saleen S-281sc(mineral grey) and the 2003 Cobra(Black) on the same day, a week later I drove the Cobra home. In my opinion the Saleen looks flashy but the Cobra is down right Brutall looking. Like a pit bull that is gonna tear you a new behind! Just my humble opinion on the Cobra!!!! Personally I wont race another Mustang, I would've let you win and stayed close enough to make it fun!!! Maybe the Cobra driver did the same thing? So you don't think my 5.0 would hang with a new Cobra huh? I'd be willing to bet if we had raced to 100mph I still would have beet him. Just because he has a blower doesn't mean that a N/A 5.0 can't hang. As you can tell by my signature I have a lot of mods to my car. I'm not meaning to sound cocky, but my car is probably faster than you give it credit for. BTW. I really like the Cobra, and wasn't at all trying to put it down. Like I said that will be my next car. My Mustang now will only see the track.
You missed my point!!! 0-50 mph why bother? Yes I did see your mods and that is why I posted what I did. I would never diss another Mustang, just my input on the Cobra! I have friends who own 5.0 stangs, I've owned a '86 SVO. So for me to gage the performance of these cars is darn close. Like I've said it's just my humble opinion, nothing more, nothing less............sorry if I offended you, that was not my intention, you have a great ride there so why would I bag on it

I raced a 03 cobra too. I saw him sitting at a stop light in the left lane so I pull up next to him in the middle lane. It still had the new car stickers on the windows (probably a test drive). When the light turned green I floored it (actually the only reason I floored it was because I needed to get over to the right lane so I could get on the highway). Anyway that guy probably wasn't expecting i, but when he saw me take off, he punched it. I already had a car on him when he gave it gas. I'm really glad he punched it because those cars are bad, and when I saw the weight of the car shift to the back I new it was over. He went flying by and I slowed down and got on the highway. Although it wasn't really a race, I was just happy to see that car perform in person.
There are no more new camaro's. Chevy stopped making them...just in case you wanted to know.
