Anyone else feel strongly against street racing, or display's of speed?
I'm a advicate of taking displays of speed or power to the drag strip, road course, or any place that is safer than our streets. What's are all of your thoughts on street racing?
What sparked my renewed interest in this, was an hour ago, the punk kid across the street from me had all his 18 year old buddies over, with their "race cars". One of the douchebags decided it was a proper time to do a burnout and speed off in the residential street. Well, i watched him the whole time, and he nearly took out 2 mailboxes when he lost control of the car. My street is filled with kids, with many of them playing outside while this occured.
Needless to say, i ran him down in my Nova, pulled him out of his car, and threatened him. Yea, i know, not a smart thing to do. Well, he'll be reported to the cops for sure, and if i ever see him or any of those punks again doing something so stupid, they'll be found in the ditch somewhere.
That sh!t is senseless, stupid, and not needed in such a place that can cause harm to others. A neighborhood, or any public road is NOT the place to do such a thing. If you feel the need to act stupid, go play with a gun.
The rest of the neighborhood probably would support you, that's just idiotic to be racing in residential areas. There have been a few threads on this already and it got pretty hot.

yep, most of them have a comeback with "tell me you have never streetraced!"
Well, to be honest, i have street raced twice. Both times in the rural areas of Kentucky. Both times, i'll tell you I was stupid to do it, but thankfully nothing bad happened.
This isn't the first time i've seen this either. I saw the neighbor and his buddy line up side by side on the same street before, until they saw me coming over to them. I knew exactly what they were up to.
I just odn't see how people can defend these actions... they'll be singing another tune the day they kill someone and end up in prison.
I've lit 'em up by myself, from stop signs in residential areas before, and I will do it again. But the 'burbs are no place to race.
I don't mind people racing from stoplights on 4 laners, as long as there's noone else nearby. It's very risky though, because if the other guy crashes, you can, and will, be held responsible.
The problem with doing it in my car is that I can't even make it to the top of second gear, without breaking every speed limit in the state.

Question for you... how often do you have spectators, or someone that films a race?
Even if it was in a controlled, rural or quiet area, accidents happen, and I've personally witnessed a person that was filming get hit spot on.

I don't know, I've never been to an organized street race, like what you see on youtube or street fire. I have done burnouts with people watching/egging me on.
Only times I've ever raced on the street were just random encounters.

street racing bad bad bad bad.....chuckle chuckle...lets yak about somethin else thats a bigger problem as the weather gets warmer...motorcycles...ricer motorcycles...not the cool harley ones cause i know alot of cool harley guys and honestly i never met a harley guy i couldnt have a drink with...i mean those idiot motorcycle guys that weave their jap bikes in and out of traffic at 80mphs...that squeeze between your mustang and another car with inches to spare out of nowhere...really annoying bastards
I have never street raced before in my life. I am just too paranoid of getting caught and losing my license, my car, my life or even taking someone else's life. I will admit that I will get on it once in a while but only on highways when there arent many cars around. I would never drive like that in a neighborhood or anywhere there is a good chance I could hit someone.

OOORAAHH!!!
Racing has no business in residential areas, period! Take to an isolated area after hours or better yet the track.
I've seen too many hot heads on both sides. A former coworker once confronted 2 teens for racing on his street. They responded by peeling out in front of him and continuing to race up and down the street to piss him off. He tossed a piece of lumber at the car door on the 3rd run. They stopped and got out and piled on him. He lost a tooth and wore a shiner for a couple weeks. One teen ended up in the hospital with lacerations and broken ribs. No one pressed charges for the fight but my co-worker was cited for tossing a missile at a moving vehicle.
Needless to say, i ran him down in my Nova, pulled him out of his car, and threatened him. Yea, i know, not a smart thing to do. Well, he'll be reported to the cops for sure, and if i ever see him or any of those punks again doing something so stupid, they'll be found in the ditch somewhere. .
How fast was you going to be able to catch up with them ? Were you raceing in sorts too ? Maybe cam cord the event and turn it over to your local police , newspaper and or any other organization that will make alot of noise. See if you can get speed bumps installed on your road . Chaseing after them punks was not smart . Someday one of them "Punks " will pull a gun on you .
I do agree that street raceing is stupid in a residential area . But I also hate drunk drivers , people on cell phones and anybody else that is a hazzard

I'll admit I've mashed it a few times from a stop (only on highways) but have never gone beyond 65-70. I too worry about hurting myself or someone else, or ending up with a monster fine!

from a stop on a highway?...hardcore ...stl i just realized...you have more posts than kscoyote??
I have lit up a tire or two but streetracing is senceless. Take it to the track then put ur foot down. I have raced on the highway and yes over 80,90,100. but with great handling and no lane changing. If thats wrong then o well im good at driving but it doesnt happen lots. So put them kids in a dich and I'll help .

Actually, he ended up pulling a u-turn 2 blocks down, i believe to come back to the house. So I didn't end up having to drive far to get him.
I've had a gun pointed to my head before, i'm not scared.
I already called the sheriff, since I know him personally. He'll be talking with the parents of the kids this week.
