That's funny. The reason it is funny is that I didn't know they were already doing that in LA, but when I typed 'that might work some places' I was thinking specifically of LA (my thinking was that folks out there deal with the elitist attitude of Hollywood folks, already, so they are probably used to such nonsense as a special lane for the rich/famous.) In fact, I actually typed 'that might work somewhere like LA' to begin with, but changed it because I didn't want to pick on any one place. Guess my gut instinct was right, after all.

Heck, in this area they can't even keep the semis out of the fast lane (even when they are doing 46 to pass another semi that is doing 45 up a hill - in a 65 or 70mph zone!)

The AARP killed off any hope of partially privatizing social security for younger folks.

They'll have no problem keeping sane rules for senior driving off the books.

Pretty soon, us geezers will outnumber the young folks, and then we'll vote our own version of Hugo Chavez in to keep the youngsters enslaved, paying 80% taxes so we can afford our weed-ration.

Its coming. Watch the next presidential election - the fix is in.

Anyone younger than 40 is screwed big time.

I agree with the comment that some older people get the shaft with stereotypes like this. My dad is turning 61 in a few months and his reflexes and eyesight are better than mine. The man yanks bees out of the sky and crushes them for fun. He drove professionally for 40 years through at least 25 states. He taught me to drive, and sometimes I swear he can drive better in reverse than most people do forwards. He's also the guy that gave me a demonstration of how to shift without using the clutch.....now THAT was a fun ride!

That said, I've ridden with some 80+ folks who just plain shouldn't have a liscence. "Aw Ya don't have to stop at every fence post" as we blew every stop sign in the subdivision.

I hate that word "sterotypes"
It goes both ways young people who drive like crap and the elders who drive like crap. It usually takes a nasty accident before the elders say, well, looks like I need to quit driving.....

The AARP - American Association of Retired Persons - a senior citizens 'interest' group that lobbies Congress on issues that they see as important to seniors (whether all those issues are really important to all seniors - or even in the best interests of seniors or the population as a whole - is a matter for debate.)

The ACLU - The American Civil Liberties Union - a watchdog group that gets involved when they think someone's civil rights are being violated. More and more, however, they are becoming a group that opposes logic and common sense. They used to be seen as champions of 'the underdog' - and I guess they still do some of that - but mostly they get involved now in cases where they can promote their own political and social agendas (they are one of the groups claiming that lethal injection should be banned as cruel and unusual, etc.)
