I'm Registering all the folks who plan to come. Please send me a PM (if you haven't already) with:

1. Your contact info (cell phone would be best - I will keep this confidential and it is for emergency use only in case of car trouble, lost cars (sounds like BullRun), and coordination between convoy members - I will act as the central control point and touchstone for everyone for the event)

2. Names of those attending (this will also give me a headcount for Food and such) and special dietary needs (BBQ is the planned main course, but we will take steps to insure that other diets are available if needed). I had planned to do some simple grill items for kids who might not like BBQ (Mac and Cheese - Hot Dogs - etc). It looks like we have a sponsor paying for the bulk of the food, but I will name them only after verifying all is GO on the sponsorship, so I don't need money, just an idea of how many mouths to feed with what sort of food!

3. Tickets. I'm suggesting that those who plan to explore Stone Mountain Park purchase "All Attraction" tickets. We can get these for $19 (adults) and $15 (kids under 12) if we buy them as part of a Group discount. I have filed our group with the Park for this purpose. I recommend that you review the Stone Mountain link I posted on the first page of this thread for information about the many venues and attractions there. Many are free, but there are a number that require tickets, and it would save you cash to purchase them via the Group. Let me know how many you will be needing (send no money now - I'll probably set them up as "Will Call" at their business office).

4. Hotels. I'm working on getting some nearby hotels to give us a group rate. Contact me with your hotel room needs/plans.

5. Other housing arrangements. Stone Mountain has a very nice RV and Campground area, and I know several of you are planning to stay there. Other folks may be staying with friends or family, or already have housing arranged. Please let me know what you are planning.

Questions and suggestions. Feel free to throw in whatever ideas and questions you might have!

Since I see a lot of hits and folks checking out the site, I am going to update everything with the main links and data right here (and in the prior post) so its not necessary to read through 5 pages worth of stuff...

I STILL recommend you review the whole thread, but anyway...

The event will be located north of Atlanta at the Stone Mountain Park.

http://www.stonemountainpark.com/

A world famous driving route less than 100 miles north of Atlanta is The Tail of the Dragon at Deals Gap, with 318 curves in 11 miles...."

Tail of the Dragon at Deals Gap and Cherohala Skyway, Graham Co, NC

Its wild. Really wild.

Also near there is The Skyway, which is prettier (though much less challenging and longer): http://www.cherohala.org/

The Blue Ridge Parkway links the Southeast Appalachian Mountain chain together:

http://www.nps.gov/blri/

In Alabama there are many historic and beautiful covered brides - my club did a tour of these last Fall that was lots of fun.

http://www.cptr.ua.edu/bridges/photos.htm

Coming from South and SouthWest of Atlanta, Callaway Gardens | Home is a fantastic stop. Their Butterly Center is amazing.

Also located near there is the Little White House at Warm Springs - the hot springs where FDR spent the last years of his life.

Georgia State Parks - Roosevelt's Little White House Historic Site

Its VERY intersting for the history buff, and well worth a pause on the trip to Stone Mountain.

My contact information:

Stan Bruns
stbruns2@earthlink.net
770-587-4572 (leave messages, please)

Georgia State Parks - Providence Canyon State Park

ArtDisco has made this kind offer:

"Anyone coming from the SW VA, East TN, or Western NC...PM me if you would be interested in meeting up and cruising down there together. I've got a pretty decent route planned, if anyone is interested. -Cheers"

More data as it becomes avaialable.

stan

I was just contacted by a photographer working for Mustangs Unlimited ( www.mustangsunlimited.com ) who is interested in coming out to take pics of our cars for their ads, calendars and such. This would of course be totally up to the individual whether or not they participated, but this could be fun!

Just need to correct this, TB, my employer is not Tremec but rather Keisler Automotive Engineering. We are an elite distributor for Tremec Transmissions specializing in TKO Transmissions..... either way, we are in and will be a sponsor for this grand event. I can't wait to meet everyone.

Quite alright, just glad we could help out. With the ever increasing gas prices, this is one less thing everyone has to worry about. Now I just gotta get my wife to get the reservations made for the campsite.

The sooner the better! It can fill up on busy weekends!

I'm going out to Stone Mountain (probably this weekend) to scout out the area and pick up some literature. I'll see if they have any additional data available that's not on their web-site (I'll also see whether there's any perceptible "preferred slot" that I can spot).

One note to those staying for the Laser Show (and I DO recommend the show) - bring blankets, pillows or chairs. Its best viewed from the huge grass meadow that faces the monument, and the ground can be damp or just plain hard, in spite of the grass.

I just remembered that I ran a signed and numbered limited edition print for the World Horror Convention held in Atlanta 5 years ago that featured the Stone Mountain carving (done in a dark fantasy motif), and I'll give one to all who attend (until they are all gone - which I doubt, since I think I have over a hundred of them).

Door prize, and everyone is a winner!

Right now, you are the farthest out of all those talking about coming. (Pennsylvania is next). West of here we're looking at some folks in Alabama...

I've PM'd ALL the "made" and above members in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Alabama. I'll go out another tier of states when I have time (its one at a time and VERY time consuming work). Hopefully we'll reach some folks from further west.

Yep - I was using the advanced search function on the member list, then sorting it by # of posts on the theory that the most senior and frequent posters might be the most interested. Even so, it takes a long time to go through the thousands of members listed. I hate sending out form letters, but that is what they must resemble, of course.

I'll continue. Its sort of mindless after a while.

I'd love to go but unfortunately it would mean a 300 mile, 4 and a half hour road trip from my house just to get there. If it's a one day thing, it just wouldn't be worth it in my opinion to travel 9 hours for a Mustang get together...no matter how much I would like to be there. Although I can see myself enjoying the ride to the Atlanta area in my Mustang (far better than I did in my Cavalier 4 years ago), not sure if I could handle that kind of ride. Surprisingly I did enjoy my drive to Augusta, GA to visit friends this past Saturday, so who knows this might be doable if it's possibly under the right circumstances.

I'll have to learn towards the can't make it category with a possibility of I'll be there if finances work out and I have the ability to take such a trip.
