Anyone dealing with JDM aka Jim Diamore in NJ?

Need to know if anyone has dealt with this shop in NJ.

The owner Jim Diamore is now pretty famous thanks to MM&FF, and moslty for his work on modified Lightnings, but his practices are not what you can call "clean".

That sounds as bad as the transmission shop I sent my 95 S-10 to for upgrades to the 4L60 tranny it had... They put USED transmission parts and a USED driveshaft in it even though I specified that they only use NEW parts... It also took 4 weeks to get it back when they said it would take 3 days. I was pissed when the tranny's internals were found in the pan when they pulled it out after 100 miles.... They are no longer in business.

Mail from someone that also got ripped off by JDM:

This is the message:

I am sorry.. I didnt notice your response PM in my box until today...actually after I Pmed you the
first time when I went back to the thread it was gone already...that had to be a record for shortest
time for a thread I figured that they deleted my PM to you too so I never checked...
My husband and I have Amazon Racing..I dont know if you are familiar with us or not...we sponsored
the 03 Cobra shootout at NRMA Bowlling Green..we are Mustang and Ford Truck specialists and have
been doing alot on th 03s since mid summer
we had a 99 lightning JDM dida few things for us when he was just starting up in the location he is
in now...we were in pretty tight with him for a while and spent time around the shop..I saw how he
treated people..we were even there the day your brother brought the crown vic to him...I never liked
the way he did business..I owned a Lincoln Mercury dealership of my own before I moved to Maryland 3
years ago...I wouldhave never put up withany employees doing my business the way he did...
I took my car to him Nov 2000.. it sat there until March 2001..they pulled the motor and tranny and
never did another thing to it...we were told later by a former employee that he only did that the
day before he knew we were coming up for some work on the Lightning
I was also to get a rebuilt Cobra motor that never materialised...it ws supposed to be built by some
famous rebuilder...after months of lies we finally went to get the car...I was also fighting
deadlines for emission testing here in MD but tht didnt seem to matter to him...I needed the car
back and in working order so I could get it tested...I ws running out of time...I never did get it
tested..when we went to get the car it had never been worked on..still had the motor and tranny out
of it...we loaded everything up and took it home and Rick,my husband sent the motor up to Mustang
Magic and they rebuilt it and we installed it when we got it back...we put the car back
together..since we had gone with a tranny conversion to a 4R70W we bought one he had there when we
got the car...it ws supposed to be ok but later we found out that it ws totally trashed...
things developed over the months and we had begun to distance ourselves from him..not wanting to
have any associasion with JDM...his business practices were becoming better known by then...
after having no contact with him for several months ..we saw him at an event and he apologized for
not being able to get to my car the first time and wanted to make it up to me by finishing
it....like idiots we let him..so a year to the day of taking it to him the firs t time back it
went in Nov 2001..all he had to do at this point was finish the tranny conversion and tune
it....well what followed ws a nightmare of lies and put offs...he also knew that if i didnt have it
back by Feb I would lose my registration.. I have personal plates Way2Wild..the car is the Amazon
RAcing 96 Cobra,Way2Wild..just like Paxton has Barely Legal....so it wasnt an option to lose the
plates...
we spent $300 one month in long distance phone charges trying to be able to pick the car up...we got
all kinds of wild stories...oh I just came back from a WOT run...that car is a beast..I am 99% happy
with the tune but want to do a little more on it....oh I had the car dyno and the tranny blew up...I
am getting it rebuilt..this guy used to work at Level 10 and is a genious...it blew up cause the
converter you gave me was bad...
then we finally said we were coming up for the car one Saturday and we got half way up there and got
a call from him telling us that the night before a sheet of metal came off a building and cut a hole
in the roof...but he ws getting it fixed by the time we got there...of course it was on a trailer
like it was going some where when we got there that day but it never did..there was one reason or
other why it hadnt left yet buy the time we finally left at the end of the day....he told us he
would get it done the next day..the guy ws coming in special on a sunday to do it...and he would
have one of his guys bring it down to us on the trailer..I wondered why it was on a trailer when if
it was done and he was doing WOT runs in it he just didnt drive it over to the roof shop...well the
car never showed up or were we contacted with a date it would and when we called we ere told he had
left for Bradenton...ya.. I was supposed to leave for there too but couldnt cause I didnt have m!
y car...as far as we knew the car was somewhere in NJ getting the roof fixed...no one at JDM knew
where and Jim would not return our calls...this went on for a week..finally we called and said we
were coming for the car..this would have been like the next day after they got back from FL..we made
arrangements to put our dogs in the kennel and to stay overnight we were not coming home without
that car...we arrived at JDM bright and early that day..he stalled us around for hours letting me
hope that he might still be able to get it finished...oh and btw the roof had not been fixed..he
said the car would not start at the roof shop and they didnt want to push it in so it sat there
until he got back and could go get it..
we stayed the night and decide that we were taking the car no matter what the next day...he lied to
me right up until we left with the car...he had never worked on it...we found that out when we tried
to drive it on to our trailer...
I had to scramble around to find someone to get the tranny operational in time to get it to the
testing station..we made it with 1 hour to spare...or course it failed but it did buy me another
month...Perfomrance Automatic performed a miracle in a few days and actually moved up finishing the
new manual valve body they were working on to have it redy to put in my car.they accomplished all
that in a week...i cant say enough about them..they are outstanding guys...I have the very first
manual valve body in my car..when we went to pick it up John Edwards who won FFW modular class that
year was there picking his car up..they had done it to his....Roxanne Shepard got the 3rd one....PA
said that the tranny was totally trashed and they rebuilt it...now keep in mind that when we took
the car from JDM he told us that he had rebuilt it and all it needed was the crown vic police
interceptor processor to be functional...I ordered that before I left and he said he would sent it
with the n!
ew roof in a few days...well iInevergot either.. I called a few times and then just never called
bck...I got the roof fixed and sent him the bill...I was really surprised that he paid me back..but
anyway the tranny we bought from him that was supposed to be ok that he blew up on the dyno and had
rebuilt was toatlly trashed and rebuilt by PA....we also sent the converter he said cause the tranny
to let lose on the dyno back to be rebuilt and they called us to tell us there ws nothing wrong with
it...later we found out that he had never dynoed the car either...it ws all just a pack of lies lies
and more lies....at least he was not into us for any large amounts of money like most ot his other
victims...we know several people who have given him thousands of dollars to do work he has never
done...there is a very long list of people he has screwed over alot of people with money to burn
and will go to any lengths to see him finished...

I dont understand why he had to lie..he could have just told me he didnt have time to work on my car
and we would have made other arrangments...I have lost 3 race seasons now because of him...he had
the car for a total of 11 months..this has been a 2.5 year nightmare for me and now looks like it
will be 3 years almost to the date I blew the motor before it is back on the road..

I have no ill feelings toward him..as a matter of fact I feel sorry for him...we have learned that
he owes a majorpulley manufacterer over 30k and is not paying...they will not let this go without a
fight...and they are not the only ones...I don tknow how he manages to still be in business but he
doenst seem to be lacking for customers...
we had heard before that this is how he is..gets in trouble and fades away for a while and then is
back....that was before the internet..I don think he will be able to do that this time...it just
amazes me that with all the bad press he gets and customer compliants even on a low level...not even
taking in the magnitude of complaints like your brother has..that he still has people willing to
defend him and customers lining up to be part of the JDM team...it is beyond comprehension..

well that is my story and believe me you got the condensed version...I dont know how the man is
still alive ..let alone still in business..when we were going up there alot we were warned not to
because so many people hated him to the point of doing him in and didnt want to see anything happen
to us because we were there on a day someone decided to do something about him..

he did try to apologize to my husband at an event we were at a few weeks ago...said he didnt want
any hard feelings...why apologize to my husband..it is me he screwed over...everytime I saw him
that day he would look the other way...like I dint even exist...
I have not been going around bad mouthing him..all I have ever said was I didnt appreciate all the
lies and didnt know why he did that when he could have just told me to come and get the car..

oh well...keep in touch with the progress of your legal battle...

A little off topic....I understand the frustration and wanting to inform everyone of what happened but I dont think its a good idea to post a copy of the check with all account numbers on it. I'd hate to see you the victim of another fraud. Just my .02

No yet, and i told my brother it was a big mistake, he expected JDM to "bend" and pay him back.

Pending is a lawsuit, we are gathering information from other people that also got ripped of by them.
