Sad Christmas story......
On Christmas we got about 8 inches of snow, unfortunately I am not one of the Mustang drivers here that have multiple cars so I cannot drive something else during the winter nor do I have a garage. So none of my family could get to my house on Christmas because we all live quite a distance from each other, and none have 4 wheel drive cars or trucks. So no Christmas dinners, basically no Christmas just sat at home.
Then around 9:30pm I decide to go clean my car off, because unfortunately I had to work the next day and needed to dig it out a bit as well. So I clean off my car and shovel around a bit. Then I decide to move my car a little, only planning to pull my car forward about a foot or so and back up a foot or so a few times just to get some tracks in the underlying snow so it would be easier for me to pull out the next day.
Well then it all happened. I pulled forward about a foot or so and my car immediately started sliding to the left on the parking lot. Now no one was parked to the left of me in the parking lot of my apartment complex. I was in the last parking spot on the left in the parking lot. So I hit the brakes, as I realize if I keep sliding I'm gonna slide off the parking lot and down a steep incline into the fence of the next apartment building. So there I am about to slide off the parking lot, and I put it in reverse hoping just to get back into my parking spot. As soon as I release the brakes my car started sliding again I tried to give it gas in reverse but to no avail. Down my Cobra slid right into the chain-link fence of the apartment next door.
So there I am at about 10pm on Christmas night in my Cobra at a diagonal angle against a fence thinking at any moment the fence is gonna break and my car is gonna go sliding into the parking lot next door and all their cars. Plus I'm not a small guy and I'm wondering how the hell I'm gonna get out of my car too. I had my cell phone with me, but I decided to try and pull myself out. Now if there was no snow I could have easily pulled my car out of this incline against the fence, but because of the snow my tires are just spinning. So I try reverse and I realize that doing this will rip off my left side mirror. Actually all in all even attempting to get out of the incline probably caused more damage than I would have had originally.
Eventually I climbed over the middle column and tried to get out of the passenger side door, all the while I hear my car creaking against the fence. Similar to what you see in the movies when a car is about to fall off a cliff and the people try to move to get out of the car before it falls off. I manage to get out and notice that my front right tire isn't even touching the ground it was actually about 3 or 4 inches off the ground.
So there lays my Cobra on it's side about to break a fence, and slide into a bunch of other cars. So now I spend the next few hours with Ford roadside assistance on the phone trying to get someone to come out to tow my car out at midnight on Christmas

yeah not too likely. I also had to go the next door apartment building wake up my neighbors and warn them that the fence could break and they should move their cars, obviously they weren't too happy about this lol.
Eventually I got a tow truck to come he used a wench and pulled me out of the incline and allowed me to get back into my parking spot. It cost me about $65 as Ford could not find a towing company willing to come out on Christmas night

I also managed to injure my back during this fiasco.
The visual damage to my car that I can see at the moment is I have about 3 12 inch deep scratches on my driver's side door from the fence. And a smashed like dent about the size of an apple and about 6 inches long on my driver's side door from one of the poles on the fence. I'm not a body shop guy or insurance guy, but I'm betting that the damage will be at least $1000 and they will have to replace the whole door panel. I haven't gotten to drive the car again yet because of the weather so I don't know if there is any other damage
If weather permits I'm going to take it to the Ford dealership Monday and have the damage appraised. I don't think things look good though
The very next night another guy in Mustang got his car stuck in the parking lot one up from me, and he was about to go over the edge of that incline (no fence in this case) and smash right into my apartment building. I saw this outside my window and went out and helped him push his car out of danger, as his rear wheels were right on the edge of going off the incline just like I did only he would have went off backwards into my apartment building. Obviously he was thankful and I told him my story from the night before, I only wish I would have been as lucky to have someone to help me
