Thumbs up Cash Is King. or is it?

I remember growing up and hearing my old man saying that cash is king, cash is power. Whenever he bought or sold something only cash was good. Last week and for a few months now I have seen this commercial from Visa where a lot of people are at a store buying toys and the lady tries to pay with cash and the cashier gives her a bad look and so does everyone else.
I just wonder when credit cards became more powerful than money itself? It is very simple to me I rather have cash.
Cash is king.

That's what our society has come to. If it isn't fast, it's no good.

Hello. There are a number of ways that cash is no longer the prefered method of purchase. Since they started dealer financing, a new car dealer would prefer that you finance the car, and will even give you a slightly better price if you come at him hard enough, since the interest is money that they make instead of a lending institution like a bank or a credit union. Small, mom and pop businesses frequently prefer credit cards over cash because they can't get robbed for credit card receipts. People don't like carrying large sums of cash for the same reason. If the credit cards get stolen, you just cancel the cards. But, the commercial that you saw was from a credit card company. Obviously, they would prefer that you use their check card over cash. I generally use cards for everything, although, sometimes just for fun, if the person behind me did something to attract my notice, I get out my checkbook in a fast food drive-through line. I'll dig around in my purse for the pen that I know is not there. They get the entire performance.

Saw something on the news the other night. It was saying you will be able to start using your finger print as a method of payment. They are already trying it out somewhere. So now you can leave your cash and plastic at home and use your fingerprint. Some one now will find a way to get a hold of your finger print and you will have more identity theft.

Finger print transactions. No way! Its bad enough fearing someone will rob you of your money or steal your credit card. Now you have to worry about keeping your fingers on your hand.

So you'll need to call your bank to report a lost or stolen finger?

HP, of course a credit card company is going to portray cash as a bad thing. They want to keep people enslaved in credit card debt for life if they can. Credit cards are a huge part of why we have a record number of bankruptcies year after year. Myself, I have never paid those %$*)&$ 's a dime in interest in my life. Sure, they play a vital role in today's society and can be very helpful if used properly but too many people fall into the trap that they portrayed in that commercial you mentioned. Maybe we're just old-fashioned but I'm with you, cash is king.

I believe it is being used in some parts of Arizona. It was on the news and was not paying much attention to where it was going on. But is is in its begining stages. Whether it is going to catch on I do not know or do not care. I am just telling you what I had saw on the news.

Hi again. Now that's just beautiful. Now I have to go shopping for some Versace steel gloves with exposed fingerprints.

I'm trying to go back to cash. Way too much credit card, debit card fraud and identity theft going on.
