Default Euro trash wannabe...

Anyone have any idea whats involved with shipping a car to Europe? My wife expresed an intrest in driving our 03 Cobra to the east cost and then shipping it to Europe and drive it around there for a summer. Is this doable? Will they let a stock U.S Cobra into europe for a summer?

Hmm.. I know lots of GI's take their cars with them when they get stationed in Europe. So it's gotta be doable. Any military types thats been stationed in europe lately out there? I was thinkin for 4 or 5 months, april through september. Just cruise around and check it out.

A guy from www.thirdgen.org moved to Norway, or Iceland or somewhere a while back, and took his ragtop IROC with him. He had it loaded in a cargo container and shipped over. How he made the arrangements I'm not sure. You'd probably have to speak directly with an export shipping company on the east coast. If you're really serious I can try and contact him, PM me if I don't respond to the thread for a while. I have the tendency to forget where I post.

Shipping it is the easy part. There are a lot of shipping companies that will do it. Make sure you use a shipping container and have insurance incase it falls overboard ! I strapped my car to the floor of the container so it did not move and damage the car. The hard part is getting the car registered in a European country and insurance of the vehicle. That is what I am not sure about !

Do I have to "register" it there? Can't I take it over for 3-4 months and drive around with my Alaska registration? That was my plan anyway...

When I get serious I will research it further I am sure the shipping companys can give me some idea. I wonder if it is easier to enter some euro coutries over others. Getting into Europe through spain might be less hassle than say Great Brittan, just slip the customs guy a $50... My wife says she would rather take the Harleys, women... what can ya do..
