Well, I finally put my Diablosport Deltachip in today and HOLY CR*P! It feels amazing! We've had our Diablo programmers at the shop forever and I've been selling Diablochips to everything from ZX2 Escorts to F250 7.3 Turbo Diesels. I waited to get my own chip until I had the intake on so I could fill out the modification paperwork. I told Diablo what my car has, its computer code, and what I want from the chip. They built my program, I downloaded it and burned it to a Deltachip. It really made my car feels great! I got the same seat of the pants feels I got with the Intake/T-Body/Mass air meter! I never thought I'd get this much power from a chip since I have a Fox mustang, EEC4 computer, and a 5-speed. I couldn't be happier!
A lot of big time companies sell the Custom burned chips at upwards of $350!!!! All we charge is the basic price of $260. We do charge more for certain tunes because the Diablochip Programmer modules use what are called "ticks". Most Mstang EEC4 and EEC5 chips cost 120 ticks for the program module to burn a chip. Diesel trucks cost from 225-250 ticks to be burned. These ticks cost a few cents each. So, say you want a custom burn and once it's built by Diablosport, they tell us it will cost 120 ticks to program/burn it to a blank chip. We charge for whatever amount of ticks we'll need. This means that Mustang owners usuall pay abou 10 bucks for a custom burn plus the cost of the chip. This keeps the price considerably lower than other companies, which keeps are customers happy! Now before I sound like a salesman, let me tell you what my Chip did for me. First off, my 93 has a full exhaust with shorty headers, no cat h-pipe, and a Flowmaster cat back. Cobra intak, 70 T-body, 76mm C&L meter, and a stock fuel system. There are plenty of other mods but the aformentioned ones have the greatest effect on air/fuel ration. Well, my car was running VERY rich and it stalled a lot on cold morning starts. I had a nasty fuel smell which I thought was because of the off road h-pipe. When I had the chip built, Diablo told me they made the computer recognize the intak mod sizes, header size, and lack of cats. This would GREATLY improve my air/fuel ratio and the combustion. This is what they said would give me close to thirty more horses. I know everyone says "you only get 5hp from a chip" but my car felt AMAZING afterwards! It runs SO much better and NeVER stalls anymore. I also don't get a fuel smell from the exhasut anymore. It felt like when I changed the T-body and Intake manifold so i still think I got close to 30hp. Anyway, that's it....
I have all the mods you mentioned except for the intake, I have the edelbrock performer intake. Is this chip the one that I can turn off ????? Since I live in So. Cal I have to deal with the strict smog laws, but I but the H-pipe on on race day only ( if you know what I mean). So I am thinking I might get the same performance changes that you just mentioned but I am afraid of when I have to get it smogged. Or is it simple to take the chip back off. I am also building a 317 stroker that I will supercharge, can I get the chip I have reprogramed or should I just buy a new one at that time? Or should I just hold off until the new motor is done (in a year, working on a budget).....?????? Thanks for the info.
i do have the Deltachip Diablochip. It's the one you can put two tunes on and turn off completely. Diablosport doesn't charge for reburns either so if you have the funds for it, get one! When we reburn a customers chip, we just send diablosport the Chip program number and they modify it for the new mods and then email it back to me to reburn with our programmers. It's actually a very easy process. Diablosport is also pretty quick about building custom tunes. Mine took a week ONLY because they were "working on a new project". Normally, we get our cstomer requested tunes within two days. By the way, if you have a fox mustang like mine, you might have to bend two small transistors on the motherboard if your computer. It sounds scary but it isn't. All you do to install is disconnect battery, pull computer out of kick panel, unbolt the harness from it with a 10MM socket, clean the nasty gel or goop from the computer port, install chip, reinstall comp, connect batt and your done. One bummer is that I had to cut the "ears" off my chip. Those 2 transistors I mentioned get in the way of the chip. The instructions detail this also.
I'd really like to see some before and after dyno pulls. I've got pretty good experience with what you can do to the stock EEC as I've owned an EEC Tuner and currently own a Tweecer RT. 30 horsepower is just a ridiculous claim on a basically stock motor.
I know you're only repeating what they told you, but it's very misleading. You're getting people all hyped up about this and they're going to lay down their cash and be very disappointed when the claimed 30 hp turns out to be only 5-10 hp.
I'm not being misleading. I'm telling the "people"(all 1 person of them) my own experience with the chip. And no, I didn't have it dynoed before or after but as far as how it felt, it gave the same seat of the pants feel as the intake, t-body, and sensor. My car was driving fairly poorly pre-chip and now it's not. That's what I'm trying to get across. I had minor hesitation, bad idle, stalling on cold mornings, and a rough feel during hard acceleration. Now my car idles beautifully, accelerates smoothly, doesn't stall anymore, and has zero hesitation. Plus, I don't have the fuel smell you get with off road exhaust anymore. There is no black build up on the plugs. I'm just happy with what I got but everyone with common sense would know that parts for one person's car might not do as much on another persons car. Besides, I'm not the one that's selling these things to them. They have their own dealers in their own areas.
What about gas mileage? Did it go up since it was configured right?
Right now I have an ADS chip. Can that be reprogrammed? It is programmed for an 88 Speed density with no cats. Other than that I have no idea. I know ADS is out of business.
Looks at my mods. The biggest seat of the pants feeling so far was the trickflow intake w/ 65mm egr plate and throttle body. god i love that intake.
Ya I bought a two stage diablo sportchip for basically a stock car and it didnt do a damn thing. No performance gain at all and I cant adjust my clock anymore. Its stuck at 3 hours and 4 minutes faster than the real time. Big waste of cash. From what I was told I should have waited untill I had done all or most of the mods I plan on doing Than put the chip on.
