Default Expert advice needed on a 8.8 R&P install

I have a 1993 LX 5.0 with T5 manual transmission. I just changed out the stock 3.08 ring and pinion to a Motive 3.55. The gears are silent as long as I am accerlerating and coasting, but when I am in the 35-45 mph range if I am barely touching the gas they whine like crazy. I have torn it back apart 3 times checking and adjusting backlash and pinion depth and always ending up with the same result!! My back lash is now set at .009 and the pinion depth is within .002 of what is marked on the pinion. What could be causing the whine at just a certain range of speed? Please help!!

So I need more backlash? The range in the instructions was between .008-.012. Should I go outside that range?

I have since took the gears back out and tried an all new set. Same exact thing. I started with .042" of shims and then went to .027" of shims on the pinion. Backlash is at .010. It seems to be a little quieter but still same problem. Any advice? Is my housing bent? I am going to try going to .020" shims and see but this is really getting old...
