Post 1996 gt door lock problems

I have a 96 gt with keyless entry. A couple of years ago the remotes went out the distance gradually faded. Instead of buying new remotes I have been manually unlocking both doors so the alarm dosent go off. Recently the locks have been increasingly more difficult to use. Now the drivers side lock seems to move freely to the right and the locking pin does not want to go down let alone up. I am wondering if I need new cylinder locks or a new actuator. I have been afraid of locking the car because I cannot unlock it easily but I dont want to leave it open. I was just wondering if anyone has had this happen before.

i don't know about sn95 cars but i know fox car actuators have a problem with locking up. mine has done that and i have to replace both of them. it started getting hard to unlock and then one day it took me 15 min to get into my car so, i would say you have the same issue, if not maybe the same problem with different parts. imo
