Default Need advice; '98 Mustang slow-starting issues?

I'm not quite sure how to describe this issue, as I'm not a huge car buff and don't know a ton of parts or names, etc. That being said, here's basically what happens. I drive a 1998 V6 Mustang, manual transmission. When I try to start my car, it almost always takes a good 5 seconds for it to catch and start up. I apologize if I'm not sounding too descriptive, but it chirps for a bit until the car actually starts. The only exception to this that I have noticed is when I have a full tank of gas, which also seemed strange to me.

I've worked on my car enough to where I feel like this is something I would be able to tackle, if I just knew what was wrong! I'm not sure what part it is, though I bought this car about a year ago, and I don't think that regular maintenance was performed on it. The only thing that I can think of that might be related to this is that the spark plugs and fuel pump need to be replaced, but I'm not sure how strongly either of those would affect this issue.

I know I sound like a 13 year old girl trying to describe this, so if you have any questions, please let me know, as I've been trying to figure this out for months now.

Thanks for the help in advance!

you might also wanna check your clutch.....it could have a worn out slave cylander. If you have a hydrolic clutch, check the break fluid. If it's not hydrolic then check the clutch fluid.

that doesn't make any sense.^ from the way you described it you could have anything from a bad starter chipped teeth to any number of other things. all of that check the fluid stuff doesn't make sense, if the clutch wasn't engaging then you wouldn't be able to start it at all
