Many people sell resistors and advertise them as chips. What does it look like? Can you post a picture or link?(use the paperclip icon to add thumbnail pic to your post)

If you cant take a pic google mustang performance chips and tell us if it looks like the SCT or Diablo chips. If not then i dont know what you have. Maybe contact the seller and talk to a tech or something.

I researched the net and found this info.Piggy back is resistor/cpu whatever that changes a signal on its way to where ever its going.
There is nothing wrong with piggy backs, but a fixed value for something that is supposed to be a variable is the wrong way to do it.

The resistor ( chip thing you bought )tells the computer it is a certain temperature instead of letting the temp sensor read correctly. The computer in turn thinks there is more oxygen entering the engine and advances the timing slightly and adds more fuel if needed. If it is actually very hot out but your computer thinks it is cold it may be adding too much timing and you will knock, or too much fuel and you will actually lose power.

I would just buy a sct or diablo, I found the instructions here . **Please Read Entire Instruction

good luck

This product could kill your car if its keeping sensors from doing their job. I would really get the diablo or sct. It never hurts to ask before buying, I always do... Good luck and let me know what you decide.
