Early muscle car smogging?

hey guys, I know its not a mustang but I'm getting a 71 camaro for free and was wondering if You have to smog vehicles that are 76 and older upon transferring titles do you have to smog or is that only on 76 and newer vehicles?
dont look down on me for getting a chevy I know its agenst just about everyone here but since I'm getting it for free and its running I'm going to keep it for a while fix it up a bit and then sell it for more parts for my mustang.

I thought it was a 25 year law... as in anything over 25 years old was excepmt. You may have to get Classic tags or someting

Hi, Buy the Camaro and have fun while you can. The Smog Nazis are at it again! As of now you will not need a smog to reg.the car in California. This May Be Changing Soon! I'm a fairly new member here. So I do not know if I can post the site so you can read what might be coming down from, THE SMOG NAZIS! So E mail me and I send you the site. Oh yeah there is no more 25 year 30 year thing any more. Just the before 76 thing is still there for the time being! Anyone else can contact me as well.

Ya I went to look at the car and it was a 81 camaro so i didnt get it, I really want a car that I don't have to smog because were I live you only have to smog cars when you buy them, other than that they dont have to be smogged but every car ive tried to get just as a project car the people say that i would have to smog it so I don't get them because of my first car we had to smog and spent over $800 and the car still wouldn't smog so I'm really scared of smogging things

Hi, I thought that the car in question was a 71. That is why I said to go for it. The fact that you only have to have them smogged upon buying a car. MAKES YOU A LUCKY PERSON. But is that even if it is a 75 or earlier year car or truck? Because 75 and back cars here in Calif. Do not need to be smogged. Well at least for now! Go to (SMOGRFG.COM) check out what they are up to. Anyway in way it might have been a good thing. Now you can find that MUSTANG! Good luck!

I live in the major country in California in the major country and we don't have to smog our cars or truck other than upon buying them unless theres a relation between the people then you dont have to smog at all.
Considering that the cars a 81 I didnt get it,
I am now looking for any old school muscle cars just to have as a project car that I wont have to smog at all but am having trouble finding any withen 500 miles. I found a 63 nova with a 327 in it, any one know if it would be worth 1500 if its in good condition? parts availability anything? sorry I know this is a mustang forum but this is all I can find in my price range for a mess around project car that I wont have to deal with electronics or anything.
