New Car Warranty Issue

Ok Guys I am looking for help concerning the Factory Warranty 5 years /60K on Motor. Took my pony in due to a rough idle and found out the #8 cylinder has no compression. Concerned about the shop mechanic saying I drove it too rough. Imagine that. If I wanted a car to putter around in I would have bought a chevy.

Anyway,

I was told by my buddie at work there is a law that says the shop must prove that it was not a mechinical failure. I have 5300 miles on the motor and oil changes were done. Bottom line the mechanic said my CAI and TBSpacer "could have lead/contibuted to the failure." He also said driving the car over the speed limit and over reving it is considered "driving aggressively and not as intended to be used." thus could void warrenty.

Please advise.

Your cold air kit and spacer could possibly void the warranty. As far a going over the speed limithow could they prove how fast you drove. Over reving should not happen unless you have retuned(voids warranty) you should not be able to over rev. If I have to take my car in for anything I will take others advice and return it to stock and hopefully avoid what you are going through. Hope they fix it for you but it sounds like its going to be a fight.

You need to read up on the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act.

Yes they asked me what I have had the car up too and I told them no tickets yet and I am impressed with its abilities. I did not say how fast I drove it. They asked it it goes over 100mph and I said of course it will the spedo says 140 mph so it should do that.

I would have put the stock air box back on it. And then take it in. Man good luck on that. It will be a fight.

Problem is Ford has infinite resources and time on their side. Most people just get fed up and quit fighting.

The news keeps getting grimmer.

Don't they have to tell me before they start working on it if it is warrenty or not. If they tear it all appart and down and then tell me its not warrenty I pay for the time and labor correct?

Yes you do. But I think they would tell you.

they did not tell me upfront yet. What I have been told is we have to getinto the motor to find out if it is warrenty. They told me it is more likely it is than not.

most likley you have broke a valve spring and therefor you dont have any pressure on the valve because I have had the very same thing happen to me on a 05 chevy tahoe 5.3

I said chevy anyway take it back to them and tell them to keep the stupid car....dont give up!!!!

That is what happended to my wifes expedition. It started to idle rough and the check engine light came on. We took it in and no problems fixing it. Just glad we had the extended warranty on it. Saved my butt.
