Default My Mustang is shocking me, literally.

My car has developed a new issue. When I get out of my car after it has been running and If I touch the metal part of the door to close it, it shocks me. It's really quite annoying. I know this is a common problem, and is probably because of something not being grounded properly? How can I go about finding the source?

I have that issue all the time. I spray static guard on the floors and seats and even my clothes if it is real bad. Just open your windows and wait a few before driving LOL Gag gag!!

mine does the same thing too, it's just static electricity I think from rubbing on the leather seats. I don't drive mine every day so it's not too bad but I would imagine that everyday would be annoying.

Me too. Do you its quite common to all ford mustang? Heres what I think, When you drive your car the air that passes (rubs) over and around it causes static electricity build-up. So your car becomes electro statically charged and every time you exit you get shocked.Canadian Tire and Home Depot stores all sell a small metal strip that hangs off the end of your rear bumper to prevent this from happening. The strip collects the static electricity and dissipates it to the ground. Some says its dangerous.

Yeah, but this problem just started like a week ago. I've owned this car for a year and it's never done this. Now it's everytime I get out of it.

Mine does it too, just clip a jumper wire onto you body then ground it on the car while you are in it!

Maybe theres a water leak or water in the body that cause the ground and static all over the car, What do you think?
