So,
I have read lots of horror stories in the forums about changing spark plugs in a 2001 V6 3.8. Stories about stripped threads in aluminum heads.
Stories about difficulty with #3 cyl read on passenge side.
Does anyone have some real life stories to encourage me to do this my self. I have changed wires and plugs on a 1977 corvette before.

Pep boys will do this for me for $250.00. I can do it for around $70.00.

Pick up some Ford Racing wires for around 40 bucks...... They have the proper connectors and angles to fit your car. No problems with the heads, just use some never-sieze on them.......

Thats always the hardest. I think you'll be fine as long as u have the right plugs and wires. It cant be any worse than putting them in a 2000 ford f150 triton5.4 l

Thanks for the update- to get to the plug on the passenger side by the firewall- Do I get it from the top or bottom-Do I have to take apart anything on the car to get to it? and should I do it when the car is cold?

Go from the top. A stubby ratchet works the best. Or just take off the EGR system Also note there is really no benifit to changing plug wires besides looks or damage replacment.

So far, I have completed three drivers side plugs and wires- #4,5,6.
Used motorcraft- AGSF42FM- GAP AT .056- tourque to 110 In Lbs (9 ft lbs)
Wires- WR5978

STILL have code P303 misfire on cyl#3-
So- how do I get to #3- It looks like it is under the air intake-
and do you have a order of the cylinders on the pass side?

So far so good:
1) lossened old plug
2) removed by hand
3) installed antisieze
4) installed new plug by hand
5) tightened with tourque wrench.

Thanks all- just finished the tune up= Passenger side requires
remove EGR and tubes
Remove airbox connection to MAF
Change plugs and wires
get lots of bandaids for scraped nuckele-
Time- 6 hours.
Car runs great!
