Default 1994 Mustang GT Cutting Off While Driving and Odomoter Issue

Hi,
While driving down the road my car will lose all power, rpm's drop to zero all gauges go down and the check engine light comes on and then it will all go back to normal. I'm thinking possibly a distributor issue or something. Can anyone help? Also, my odometer has stopped but speedometer still works, any advice? Thanks

Odometer issue is an easy one. the original gear inside of the instrument panel cluster is very poor quality and they just turn to mush after years. you need to replace that gear in there. here are some links below. the first is a step by step with pictures on how to do it.

this link tells you where to buy. tell him Dennis referred you if you call.

Do you know if it's one specific gear that may be broken based on prior knowledge of this? I can't see taking the whole thing apart then having to put it back together to take it apart again in a week. Just checking to avoid some work, but thank you very much for your response as to what the problem is. Now, if I can find out why the car shuts itself on and off for, I'll be doing good!!

yes, it's one specific gear. look at the first link i sent you. they are step by step instructions. it is simple. it will take you about 10 minutes to take it out. just pop it out and then order the gear. the new one will get to you in 2 days.

Sorry about that, didn't go to the end of the pictures before clicking on the link to purchase one and saw four different ones listed. Thanks again for the instructions. Quick question..is a cold air intake really worth it? Does it help with performance in your opinion?

Yes, it is really worth it, however you don't even need to buy the whole kit from ebay or whatever,... all you need to do is buy the air filter and remove your airbox cover and put the cone air filter there. everthing else is already in place

It was already installed on the vehicle when I got it. I need to check and see if the filter needs cleaning b/c I didn't know much about it when I got it. Just wondering if it does increase performance. I wouldn't know the difference since I haven't driven it without the intake there.
