Default Interested in restoring my 1990 5.0...

Hi everybody,

I'm a newbie and thanks for the welcomes. I love it here. I have thousands of questions though.
I have a 1990 5.0 G.T. automatic and it runs quite well for it's age, except, it doesnt have the power it used to. I live in Chicago and I do alot of the work on my cars myself but I have no idea where or how to start restoring it. I havent been to a shop, (other than to have the trans rebuilt) in years, although I am willing. I know I cant do it on my own. I'm not trying to race or anything, I just want it to run really well like it used to when I bought it back in 1993. Also, I bought a craftsman computer scanner and it said that I needed a canister purge solenoid. I have trouble locating it though. I looked on the fender on the passengers side near the radiator but could not find it. Any ideas??

Thanks, love you guys.
