Default Mobil 1

Hey,
I'm sure this is on here a lot, couldn't find anything though. I have 90,xxx miles with oil changes every 3000 at least. I havent seen any leaks and it doesnt use any oil right now. I race sometimes and do some hard street acceleration. Is it alright to go to 10W-30 Mobil 1 Full Synthetic, and is it alright to use Motorcraft 10W-30 anytime after Mobil 1 or will I have to stick with synthetic. www.mobil1.com said that i can pretty much just do whatever and the mobil 1 representative said it would be fine and be better for the seals in the engine. I just want to make sure it wont start burning oil or anything stupid. whats everyones ideas on this... thanks Craig

Hi,Craig I'm a strong supporter of Mobil1 products and
would highly recommed it everyone.I use 10W30 in my
TT with a motorcraft oil filter and never had a problem.
Mobil1 Synthetic's are superior for lubrication of the seals,
rings,pistions and entire engine.The Mobil1 representative
was right that it is safe to use Ford Motorcraft 10W30
after useing Mobil1 10W30 I can't see that it would hurt
your engine or effect your engine at all because they are
both great oils to use in Ford engine.I think that the Motorcraft
oil filters are just as great as their oil.

I highly recommend using Mobil 1 full synthetic!

I am highly sceptical of additives for oil and very careful what I put in my cars.

I have read a lot of reports and done much research before doing the full synthetic thing several years back.

I have now run mobil 1 in my vehicles for a good 10 years. I don't run it in every vehicle I own and this is why; the best reason to use this oil is if you are going to keep the engine/car for more then 50K miles. I have pulled engines apart after running this oil and they are cleaner and have significantly less wear then they should. But if you are only going to get rid of the shortblock and/or engine, then it is not worth the expense.

There are a few other benefits which you should consider. First, the engine will gain a few extra pony's (more slippery). Second, the engine will run a few degree's (better heat disipation) cooler.

A final thing to consider. With mobil 1 it is my opinion that it is a waste to change your oil every 3K miles. It does not break down like reg oil, so I make up some of the cost by changing my oil every 6K miles when i run Mobil 1. I do however change my oil filter every 3K miles. A Mobil engineer I talked with on a airplane trip once told me that it is pretty safe to run this oil up to 10K miles, but I don't feel comfortable doing that.

Hope this helps
