OK, now for the facts. No one is being starved anywhere because of the fuel market because the food market is still the most lucrative. If not, why are we sending/ selling BILLIONS of pounds of corn to China? If you're talking about charity, ask the UN why anyone is starving in Africa, after all aren't they supposed to be interested in alleviating hunger in the world? Oh, that's right, the UN would actually have to do something to accomplish that! Not going to happen.
Back to Ethanol, food crops are pretty much being phased out as a source for Ethanol since it's been discovered that food crop WASTE and various weeds and grasses give a much higher quality Ethanol than corn. Cellulosic Ethanol is what is current technology in Ethanol and that is made by crop waste and, basically, garbage. The latest high tech Ethanol plant is due to open this Fall and will use this source.
The cost of food crops is directly related to OIL! Fuel oil for the tractors, and for the transportation of the food. You can thank the OIL companies for the high cost of, basically, everything!
