Default Help with alternator pulley installation

Okay, I admit it... Sometimes I'm a real moron when it comes to very basic stuff...

My 95 GT needed a new alternator. I purchased such. It comes with no pulley. I removed the old pulley from the old alternator and put it on. Fits nice, no binding or anything.

But how the hell do you get the thing good and tight? I had to near-destroy the old alternator getting it off, and I can't get any purchase to tighten it down good on the new one... I don't want to rip up the new one of course, but I can see no way to stop the rotation of the spindle so I can wang the nut down real good... Has it got something to do with the little concave nipple in the end of the shaft?

KC

An impact wrench is the way to go.
Mount the alt, install the pulley, belt and then tighten with the impact wrench.

Hmmm. I'll give it a shot (trying to remember phone number of neighbor with compressor and impact wrench)... But I think I'm gonna have one beast of a time getting an impact gun in there with it mounted.
