Help with alternator pulley installation Okay, I admit it... Sometimes I'm a real moron when it comes to very basic stuff...
My 95 GT needed a new alternator. I purchased such. It comes with no pulley. I removed the old pulley from the old alternator and put it on. Fits nice, no binding or anything.
But how the hell do you get the thing good and tight? I had to near-destroy the old alternator getting it off, and I can't get any purchase to tighten it down good on the new one... I don't want to rip up the new one of course, but I can see no way to stop the rotation of the spindle so I can wang the nut down real good... Has it got something to do with the little concave nipple in the end of the shaft?
