Default 1966 Mustang 289 Cylinders

Once again I am looking for some guidance. We recently took measurements with the rings and cylinders. Unless we are doing something drastically wrong, it appears I have a .073 gap. I can understand wear, but this seems too extreme to be possible. Is it? I put the ring exactly 2" down in the cylinder, then used a feeler gauge to measure the gap, several times. Now what?? Do they make over size rings that big? Do I get over sized pistons instead or both? .030 oversized seems to be the common thing I have found, but that wouldn't close the gap enough, right? We don't believe the cylinders have been bored out, how would we check to know for sure? Do we simply measure the cylinder? I believe it is 4.0".

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
