1969 Mach 1 Mustang Power Disc Brake Bleeding I have a 1969 Mach 1 with factory power disc brakes in front and drums in the back. I had a problem with the rear brakes that caused the wheel cylinder to come apart and loose pressure to the rears, but retained pressure in the fronts. I have since repaired the rear brakes and have tried to bleed the rears. I am unable to get any fluid out of the rears. I remembered that the brake distribution block has a metering valve that needs to be centered in order to allow pressure back to the rear brakes. I looked this up in my original Ford service manual and it confirmed this. The problem is that the manual does not give a procedure to center the valve. I remember having this problem once before when the brake system warning light came on and I was able to re-center the valve by loosening one of the brake lines on the brake distribution block, so I tried loosening the line for the fronts that goes into the distribution block and applying the brakes. This did not work as the light remained on. Does anybody know the proper procedure to center that valve so that I can bleed the rears? Any help would be greatly appreciated. |
