Default Do UD Pulleys Really Increase HP?

Hello! After changing the rear gears in my 1998 Convertible, I am looking for additional information on how to increase my hp without nitrous/supercharger/headswap. In other words, I am trying to build on my mod without being too radical. I have heard that underdrive pulleys can add hp (5-10) in a simple manner. I have also heard that they are mostly for looks and do not really add to hp. Any input here?

lol looks? Get some Ud pulleys, timing adjuster, and some suspension mods. YEs Ud pulleys give you HP, go with Steeda, i heard that people have no charging problems with them.

although I don't have UD pullies I know people that do have them and have noticed gains. typically a Steeda UD Pulley and T/A combo will net roughly 2 tenths in the quarter. I personally gained .05 from my T/A but I'm sure I could have gotten more out of it with tuning. I just got caught up in the whole headswap process and never got back to the track.

Pulleys add horsepower. Go with a good company and you shouldn't have any problems out of them.

Pulleys add 3 about RWHP... People have done dynos taking their belt off just to see what kinda power gains you get without your accesories and gained a total of 5 rwhp. Just my two cents.

UD pullies only free up the horsepower not really increasing horsepower. What they actually do is decrease the drag the accessories have on the motor which will increase the RWHP not the actual HP of the motor.

I would say..YES get the UD pullies but make sure you get a balanced set like Steeda has. Do not get a piggy back set like BBK.

Thanks for the input. It was very helpful in understanding the principal behind the pulleys. I will probably get some Steedas in the near future!

Steeda pullies are made by ASP so i'm going through them, saving a couple bucks.

ASP has good pulleys, expensive but they are very good.
