Question Fix 2.3L or upgrade ?

I hve a 90 mustang LX with a 4 cyl. 2.3 L with blown head. So instead of fixing this engine I would like to know if it's possible to upgrade to a bigger engine , if so , what do you suggest ?. Also would like to keep it to a minimum as far as having to change other parts if possible.
Thanks for you time in advance...

Well a 5.0 would be the logical choice but would involve swapping the transmission, rear end, ECM, engine wiring harness, gas tanks etc.

Swapping to any different engine will entail much of the same so there is no real swap with a minimum of other parts.

If you could find a rolled donor car, it would be cheap and easy (relatively). Otherwise, if you are trying to keep down cost or the amount of work, it is not the solution.

What are your goals with the car?

I will be fixing it, I just wanted to know if maybe I could swap the engine (maybe with a 302) with out having to change to many parts, just trying to keep the cost down, the work I don't mine.
