Default Headlight problems

I'm having a slight problem with my headlights from time to time and depending on where it happens, it could be dangerous. Driving on the interstate back to school at night my headlights just shut off for no reason. The odd thing is that the parking lights were still on, but i had no headlights, i hit the dash and the headlights came back on for a while. I repeated this about 4 times on the way home. I'm not sure if its just a loose wire inside the dash or on the headlight switch itself or if i just have a bad switch. Can anyone tell me the easiest way to take the headlight switch out and if anyone knows where i can find a wire diagram for it?

Are you running with the driving lights on too? If so turn them off. if it goes away there is your problem.

The driving lights get power from the same place the headlights do. Running both can overload the circut. There is a fix for this somewhere on the site. Do a search or does anyone else remember the thread

Here is another thread on this problem

I read this tech. I think there is a better way. I will look at the wire diagrams of the 89 and see what can be done.
