Default Anybody own a Tremec, and LIKE it?

I am one seriously disgruntled owner of a Tremec 3550 transmission! I am just about to spend another several hundred dollars on this P.O.S. to make it driveable again, while seriously considering another T-5.

To keep it short, I bought a new tremec, and right away it had no third gear. The shop I bought it from (rhymes with Turbo aRe-eX) said "sorry no warranty". After months of complaining, the engineer agreed to meet me at Bondurant, to take a look. He drove it, claimed it wasn't defective BUT gave me all the parts to fix it. I replaced all synchros, blocker rings and second, third and fourth gears.

Again, a few thousand miles later, NO THIRD! I just pulled it apart, and the same problem, WORN TEETH on the synchro sliders and gears! Granted, I don't baby this thing, but powershifts are few and far between, and really not necessary!

Does anyone have a tremec that shifts well, is quiet, or DOESN'T leak? I'd like to hear your stories!

Thank you, I feel better now

Hmm, I love my 3550. I bought it used with 200+ quarter mile passes already on it. I've since put another 200+ passes on it, most fully powershifted. Third gear doesn't like to downshift anymore but I'm not complaining since I would have destroyed ten T-5s by now.

I does leak a little though. No big deal for me.
