Does this mean the my sincro is gone?

So today on the highway I was crusin and when I went to put it in 5th it gave the sound of gears grinding then it slipped in. I played with it and it starts the noise and vibrations when I'm shifting from 4th at 2800 RPM's or higher. The higher the RPM when I shift the lounder and longer it makes the sound. If I shift anywhere below 2700 it is fine. I tried giving it gas between gears and let the RPM's fall as I shifted to 5th and it seemed to be ok. Is it the syncro or is it something else? Also is this something that needs to get fixed ASAP???

sounds like a syncronizer to me . If you dont fix it right away it will slowly get worse and eventually fail .

So I have my list of mods in my sign. I can put my stock shifter back on and take it in to see if they will fix my tranny under warentee. Do you think with the steeda clutch kit, AL DS, rear gears they will say hell no and I will have to pay for it? If I do have to pay for it about how much will it cost? I read around and it seems like some people on 3.8 mustang had a similar problem with thier t5 and after the dealer fixed it, it got screwed back up in a few months. Is this something that think could happen with me as well?

With all this going on I started thinking about getting a 6spd tranny for 1750 plus shipping and whatever labor is involved. What do you think about this and what kind of problems do you think I could encounter while trying to go this rout? After the engine work listed in my sig. I am going to get the kenny brown level 5 suspention pack installed and then brakes, forged internals, 8.8 rear end and a power adder. In the long run what do you see as being the best and least expensive (HAAAHAAAHAA!!!!) rout to take?

I would first try to get it fixed under warranty . If not then either rebuild it if you want to go cheap . Or get a tremec 3550 . I personally would go with a tremec if the dealer wont fix it .

mine does this into 3rd and 4th. seems to ahve al the same symptoms your car has. can u get rebuild kits that have syncros?

yep ! I'm pretty sure you can get just the syncro kit from mustangs unlimited .

hmm, might do that, but my car started to mess up when my dad was driving it, so im trying to get my parents to split a trans cost with me, T-56 for 1800 bucks. i can spit up 1000 mid summer
