Default Ram or Centerforce Clutch, or??

My high mileage 2000 V6 Mustang 29K miles, needs a new clutch. To be more accurate, it needs a new throw out bearing.

So, I am sure as heck not going to tear it apart for the bearing and not replace the clutch. Plus, I'm adding a SC to it, so it's a wise upgrade.

I have a few questions for everyone.

First, since this is my first V6, does anyone know if it takes the same clutch setup as the 5.0? Because it is a T-5 tranny.

Second, any suggestions on brands? I have always been a Centerforce clutch user. But it's been a few years and I hear Ram is a big player now.

Third, depending on if my clutch is the same as the 5.0 version, making it more or less difficult to find a performance version, does anyone have a good source to purchase from.

Thanks in advance

Glen

Exclamation clutch..

We'll Glen in my opnion I would use a Centerforce clutch.
I would also consider a Steeda Tri-ax shifter or a Pro 5.0
shifter for smoother shifter but, that's your call Glen.
The best of luck!

Last time I had a V6 clutch in my hand (1996) it was actually larger in diameter than a 5.0

I like McLeod (spelling?) clutches myself. Mine takes 6k launches pretty freakin good. I hear SPEC makes a good one too.

Thanks for the link and info guys.

Brothers seems to have everything that is available.

The clutch is an 11", go figure?

Unfortunately, there seems to be only 4 options available. Original Equipment replacement....uh....not in a million years. Then there is the Centerforce 1 clutch, with 30% more clamping power. This is better but not there yet. Then there is the Ram HD series, with again 30% more clamping power, again better but not there yet. Then there is the Ram Kevlar, but "says do not use on the street". This is way over priced at about $450.

So I am really disappointed in the selection. If I wasn't going to Supercharge, then the Centerforce 1 would be "OK". But I would rather have the Centerforce 2, but they don't make it for the 3.8. So I suppose I will have to give the Centerforce 1 a shot.

Any opinions on the Centerforce 1??

Hopefully since it is 11", it will do better then the 5.0 10.5" I know so well.

Another thought? The SC Tbird has the T5 and 3.8 and it's 11". But the part numbers are different. Any opinions on this?

Thanks in advance

Glen
