Default Help me please!!!

ok i have a 95 cobra and I was having a problem after I went down a steep driveway and scraped the exhaust. now my turn signals don't work and I'm blowing the fuse instantly as soon as i put it into the fuse box.

I've narrowed down to the following scenario: the fuse will not blow and all the flashers and everything work, but as soon as i even slightly tap the clutch (maybe something near there) the fuse blows instantly.

I'm thinking it's either some switch under there or maybe something along where the clutch cable runs to the trans or maybe even on the trans since i scraped

I just want my baby back on the road again. Please HELP!!!

ok so here's the latest. it is isolated to just the clutch. if i take the clutch cable off the quadrant and move the clutch pedal around it does not blow the fuse. then i reattached the quadrant with a lot of play on the pedal (firewall adjuster) and slowly tightened it. so as soon as i have the clutch pedal back to normal tension and touch it, the fuse blows. so it's got to be something on the transmission side where the cable goes to the fork.

Are there any electrical connections in that area on a T5 tranny? I can't even get the cover off the tranny to get to the clutch assembly. any ideas?

Get the car started, and then pull the neutral safety switch wire off of the clutch quadrant. Recheck your signal fuse. Try the clutch pedal. Does fuse blow?

Another posibility, you've probably checked this, is that a signal wire is getting rubbed by the clutch cable/pedal assembly as you depress the pedal.

There should not be any wires inside the bell housing. Check alarm wiring, and wiring around pedal assmebly.

Good luck,

Mike

i'm not sure what it is but it's definitely isolated to just that particular circuit for the turn signals and brake lights. can't seem to trace the wires cause i have no idea where they go or if they go anywhere underneath the car. i did find out that the clutch cable sparks off the quadrant but i'm not sure if that's because there is something grounding out on teh tranny or near the pedal assembly. didn't see anything near the pedal assembly.

i'm losing my mind and losing all hope. if anyone can tell me how the wires are run from the #9 fuse on the 95s to the rear then that would be a huge help and of course what color wire i'm looking for. thanks for the responses guys.

I forgot that your car has the same brake light/turn signal bulb.
Also, check the brake light switch.
I wish I could help you by looking at it. The only thing I can figure is that one of the wires is chaffing.

I just don't understand why the exhaust scrape would cause this.

ok finally got it figured out. it was the clutch safety switch. somehow it managed to get caught near the quadrant thus was shorting out on the quadrant when i was touching it. taped up the wires with some electrical tape and works like a charm. weird how this all of a sudden happened and coincided with me scraping my exhaust. either way thanks to all of you for your help and responses. it was a huge help. boy i'm glad for mustang forums.

I've been checking back all day to see if it was solved.
