I don't want to like a smart ass but I'll pass on some information when resetting a computer or clearing codes,
All you have to do is remove both battery cables from the battery and touch the two posts together for a couple of seconds. What this does is drains all of the capacitors in the computer instantly and "bam" your set to rehook the terminals back on the battery. Then idle the car for a minimum of 10 mins with all accesories off. This should re-set the idle learn procedure.
Capacitors store electrical energy, and they can do so for a short length of time depending on their size. Frank
You are smart, but not an A$$, so you are doing just fine in my book, and if you got good advise, share it!
Although I am a self proclaimed know it all, I didn't know this, so I learned something new.
I have always just disconnected the negative terminal for about 10 minutes.
I had to laugh at first, I thought you said, touch the BATTERY Terminals to together. As in, the positive and negative posts on the battery. This would cause a major melt down. LOL! But if it didn't clear the computer, it would clean your clock!
Yeah! I guess it is misleading, I should of said touch the battery cables together, not the battery terminals. WOW that would be a drastic move. Sorry people. Never assume it makes an ass out of u and me. Frank(that's how I remember how to spell assume, get it!)
I do not want to sound like a know-it-all, but I knew that. Great tip Frank! You win a cookie
Here is another one for you drag racers.
When you have a kill switch to the battery and electrical system, plug a 9v battery into the cigarette lighter to keep power to the PCM when the tech inspector test the switch.
I had an inspector keep mine off until he was finished with the rest of the car. Could have shot him!
I recently removed my battery to do some work and then installed it after a couple of days. The next time I drove the car I pulled into tghe drive shut the car off and I hear 5 beeps coming from somewhere under the dash. This was after the car was off and the keys removed. I dont get any warning lights and everything works as it should but I always get these 5 beeps now when I turn the car off! Any clues anyone?

Under the dash is some kind of backup power for the airbag system. it's a blue box. behind the radio on most cars or in the general area.
about the beeps after the ignition is shut down. I have an 89 lx 5.0 and it does the same thing and there is no air bag installed. So what are my beeps associated with? Just a though.
Mine ended up being my Pioneer radio anti-theft system, it resets itself to armed so that you have to take the face off or it beeps when you shut the car off. I just set it to off and ...no more beeps.
