Exclamation Recalibrate my car

Hi,
I just swapped in a rearend (and new gears) for my '96 Mustang. Only problem is (I knew this was going to happen) my gauges are off: speedo, fuel gauge, tach (I don't think it is, I'm not sure). Can anyone recommend a program or device I can buy to recalibrate my car? It's annoying when I'm on the freeway and it says I'm going 95 and low on gas!!! I don't want to take my car to a Ford dealership to do this because I have a feeling I'm going to do this more than once.

I can't imagine what swapping gears would have to do with the fuel level? Make sure all the wires and connectors are properly installed and not damaged. They shouldn't have been messed with at all for the gear change. As for the speedo, you should be able to take it to any speedo calibration place and get it corrected. Look in the phone book. The tach should not have been affected; the engine will be turning at different RPM's than you are used to so I think it is probably just a matter of getting used to it.

Well we really need a few more questions answered before we can give you the answer you are looking for. Is it automatic or standard? What gears did you put in (I'm assuming 3.27 since that is in your signature line.

Here is a chart of speedo gears for you to review for the correct one you need depending on your setup.

Hope this helps.

Your best bet is to get a SpeedCalibrator from a company like DMP
http://www.dallasmustang.com
its more reliable than replacing speedo gears which t-45s have a tendecy to eat up.
