Default Camaro T56 swap

Can it be done? It's a lot cheaper than buying a Mustang T56. If yes, what would I need to do? I read in Motortrend that the Viper, Corvette, and Cobra R share the same T56 transmission. I've seen the Camaro's... I think it's possible.

Won't work. You need the Ford spec T-56. Check out www.ddperformance.com

Don't say it will not work. Someone always proves you wrong

D&D for example: The Viper T56 in a 91 LX

I have the D&D Viper T56. All I can say is

Does anyone know if there is any difference between the two transmissions that would not make it possible? Different bolt patterns? Justnlx, did you have to modify anything to get it the tranny hooked up to the engine and mounted?

The only main difference bewteen the Cobra R T56 and the Viper/Corvette/F-body is the gearing and the input shafts. Even the Cobra R T56 won't fit up to a 5.0 or even a standard 4.6L

Cobra R gearing: 2.97/2.07/1.43/1.0/.80/.63

Viper/GM: 2.66/1.78/1.30/1.0/.78/.50

I would reccomend calling D&D Performance (248) 926-6220. Having the tranny itself will probably make this swap cheaper.

I had no trouble putting in the T56. D&D Performance makes a great kit for installing it in a 5.0L Mustang.

Like Jesse said, they are the same physically. I would give D&D a call
