I'm currently torn at how to get a custom chip for my car.
First of all, it seems like NOBODY in my town wants to burn a chip while my car is strapped to a Dyno.
I've got one speed shop, which is very reputable amongst the V8's (5.0, LS1, 4.6, LT1). The owner said he could burn me an Autologic chip with 4 settings for $390 installed. He would take my list of mods and burn from that. Than, we'd take a trip to the dyno to "confirm" the chip, than paying another $100 dollars for 3 pulls plus A/F ratio. That's about $500 dollars!
My other option would be an online chip, where I sent them my list of mods to have one burned. What are those prices, and who are the best makers? I'd still need a dyno pull, this time it would be $125 since I'd be tuning it at the same time.
It just seems that I'm supposed to be able to get my car a custom chip for less than $500.
Here is the car: Before the chip, I'll be installing 24lb injectors with a new MAF. BTW, the best she's run is a 13.8 @100mph 1.87 60', so she is DEFINITELY out of tune...

I would stay away from the mail order chips, those are hit or miss, imagine the mail order hell your gonna go through if you have to keep sending it back to reburn or anything of that nature. As for the $500, that doesnt seem like an odd price mine cost me just over $600. on the dyno they can make changes to fuel curves and other settings and see where the car runs best, your not going to get that type of fine tuning from a mail order chip. JMHO.

Great price, about what they get at a top notch shop..great chip!! I love mine, I have a nitrous tune and a N/A tune...works great. The only way to have a chip properly tuned is on a dyno with the a/f. Do they re-burne right there on the dyno...that's a must.

I don't like that. My place pulled my car at least 10 times and reburned the chip each time for $500. I would shop around, I would not do a dyno with out the ability to burn the chip on th espot..how would they know it works right? Good luck.

That's why I'm skeptical about paying so much for a chip that's not burned at the dyno. My little town of Jacksonville only has one dynojet, and they don't burn chips on the spot.
i have a custom dyno tune on my car..$350, unlimited pulls, and reburned when necessary...prety good chip, still needs some small tweaking though..
my buddy got an online chip through JMS...his car runs better than mine does. if i had to do it again, i would order through JMS. not only did his turn out awesome, but many people on the corral have turned out good as well.
for that much $$ why not get a programmer that does data monitoring so you can see what's going on, at home, at the track or anywhere. the learning curve might initially suck, but you can always flash it back to normal if things get weird.

you can always make the computer go back to normal also by just unplugging the chip
plus some people can program, and some people cant. i personally would rather have a professional take care of it.
Molar, this may be a long shot, and a bit of a drive, but you're not too terribly far from Savannah are you??? Maybe there's someone there that can help you out.
