Default ball joint

I just inspected my 70s front end and found the rubber boot of the left front ball joint torn. Is this a problem and will it lead to the failure of the joint. The ball joint seems sound otherwise. If a rebuild is in order what are the recommendations of this forums readers? I use the car for scca solo 2 autocross.

It will lead to part failure as it will allow moisture and dirt to enter and grease to escape.

That's the best way to say it.

If you can get them. Go for HD ball joints. They tend to last longer
