Default Tires...

I've got 17 X 9 Cobra R's and I have to buy some new front tires. I was running BFGoodrich Comp TA's 245/45/17, but those tires are discontinued and the replacement ones are WAY more expensive. A buddy of mine is running Kumho's on his, but they're WR rated and I don't want to be buying tires every other month...what are you guys running? What's the biggest tire you can fit on a 9" rim? Thanks a lot.

I have a friend that runs Bridgestone RE730's and loves them. Says they last him over 30k miles. Check out http://www.tirerack.com for reviews on different tires.

I run (ran), Cooper Cobra ZHP's, they hook very well, before I had Nitto 500Z's and they could be chirped in 3rd and smoked in 2nd, the Coopers only spin 2nd a bit and rarely if at all chirp 3rd. They are even better in the rain than the old Nittos I had. I'm running 275/40's, which is about as big as you could go on a 79-93 without having serious rubbing/hitting issues on the fenders. Your 95 will probably accept a fairly wide tire, maybe a 285 for the back, or 275/40's all around.

get the Khumos. I have the Khumo Ecsta 712's and they are excellent. They are about half the cost of alot of other tires. I've also had falkens and Yokahomas, but neither are as good or last as long... (in my opinion)

I've got 275's on my stock '96 cobra 17" rims. I don't know if they're 9" or not, but I think so. If my rims are the same width as yours, 275 is the widest you should go.

I was running I was running BFGoodrich Comp TA's on my 92 stang and recently switched over to Khumo's. The Comp TA's were a much better handling tire IMO but the Khumo's are not bad considering the price.

i'm runnin toyo tires on my stang.. they're inexpencive but i've only had 'em for about 2 months now.. the tread on 'em is OK. i used to have cooper cobras on.. but they wore out pretty fast..these seem to have a lil more tread and are pretty good in the rain.. the grip is like glue on the street.. when i take off i only chirp.. they stick to the road pretty good. then again i'm auto so that might be y..
