Default pinging

I have a 94 gt and it runs good when it is cool
but when the gauge gets to the middle and i
punch pings like hell i tryed setting the timing
but it still does the same thing.I think it might be
this crapping 91 octane gas.

try getting good gas somewhere else... if that doesnt do it.... sometimes the fuel filter will cause it... also, your injectors could be dirty. I recommend Redline fuel injector cleaner. its like $7 but it made my car feel brand new. i get one everytime i order from summit...
www.summitracing.com.
lubes cylinders, cleans injectors boosts octane. i swear by it.

I agree with Adam.

Try different stations. Try some injector cleaner or have the injectors cleaned. Check your fuel pressure.

What is your timing set at?

Other things that can cause pinging:

- Bad plug gap
- EGR
- Carbon deposits on valves
- Oil deposits on Intake
- Dirty MAF
- Exposed K&N under the hood

Run some TB cleaner (O2 sensor safe) through the intake, spray a full can with the engine running. This should clean the Intake, TB and get rid of some carbon build-up on the valves.

definitely try the fuel. either higher octane or different type. usually finding a type and sticking with it works the best i've found. also you must keep in mind you should probably let the old gas run til it's just about empty then fill it up with the good stuff. another thing to try would be fuel injector cleaner. here's a trick i learned that works really well but shouldn't be done more than once a year. first buy a good bottle of fuel injector cleaner. avoid the cheap stuff. and fill up with gas with this stuff in the tank. run that tank empty then fill up again with just gas alone. run this tank empty then fill up again except this time add a snall bottle of isopropyl alchohol. after this tank runs low, fill up like normal. your injectors should be cleaned and the pinging should stop. because your engine could get "use to" running with alcohol/gas mixture, you should not do this too often. this technique may seem unorthadox, mut it works. i know many auto shops that actually use this technique. whatever you decide to do, good luck........ted

Yea use Nitro Methane and you'll never have to worry about a ping again out of that motor.....Can you say scrap......I know.. I have a drag car '72 Chevy Vega
with a 434ci small block...Nitro Methane is very unforgiven. 2 oz. to a 8 gal. tank leaned it out so bad
and made it run so much better it scattered at the start line. I never had a problem spinning till that night. I run 14" rims and that's a lot of tire on the ground. When I nailed it, it sat there. Even though I had a 8000 rpm chip in the high side, it went further..Anyway it snapped.
$8500 down the drain cause a "Friend" said let's try it..
By the way I do own an '89 Mustang GT for an every day driver. That's why I come to this site. A lot of good info here. The 434 is up and running again but without Nitro Methane. You can do what you want but I've been racing for a long time and that's something that I never expected..Afterwards a fellow racer came to my trailer and said "last time I saw something like that the guy was running Nitro Methane"......
Truth..

I have a 94 GT/I found the right 0xygen sensor not torqued down properly/Thus leading to a leak! Also/try retorquing your upper stock intake/In particular the center bolts under the plaque/That and the Redline Valve cleaner did it/You can pick one up @ The Pep Boys/It's about the only thing I buy there besides Water Wetter!!!!!!!!
