Default Rear Quarter window probs

Hey all,

I just purchased my first Mustang, it's a 91 5.0 vert and I'm having a blast with it. I do have a problem with the rear quarter windows though. When i try to use put them up or down all I hear is a clicking sound and they struggle to go down. I have to 'help' them up while pushing on the switch. Any suggestions to look at? Thanks in advance all.

Try oiling the track first, if that doesn't help your looking at replacing the motors

Great, thanks a lot. I'll give it a shot. Guess I need to purchase a mechanics manual now so I don't destroy anything.

it is acctually very straight foreward, just take your time, and pull the back seat out first

Just a thought... check the gears also, sometimes they wear out and do not connect.. giving you that knocking sound going up or down, depending on the gear direction... that is the problem I am having with my windows..

they have plastic gears that strip, if you hear noise your motor is working, problem may be the gears. I have an '85 that had the same problem.

SIMPLE!!!! Take off the window motors, open them up, take out the plastic gears or what's left of them, clean them up a bit then repack the motors with ball bearings and grease, seal them back up and reinstall them..... Enjoy!
