Question Rear end squeaks

Tried a search for bushing sqeaks and came up empty. My 02 has started sqeaking bad in the rear end. Probably bushings. Thought I read somewhere that Ford had a silent recall or something on the bushings. Anyone know about this or have this problem. Way too new a ride to start squeaking.

Your car is squeaking because it is a Mustang. The unibody chassis our cars sit on gets weaker and weaker with mileage and starts to squeak more and more. Sub-frame connectors and other chassis stiffening products can reduce the noise but there is no 100% cure for the problem. It is just one of those things you have to learn to live with if you are a Mustang lover.

My 94 does it constantly...I just learned to accept it as the background noise of owning a stang...

Thanks for the input. Got to keep looking for a solution though. Can't believe $45,000 Saleens squeak like this thing does. Rosch cars can't possibly make this noise. This car is 1 year old and has 20,000 miles. I have never heard any new car make this kind of noise.

Thanks again for the info though.

That's not true. I believe your rear end is leaking and needs to be regreased and sealed. I had that problem on my 88GT and it solved the problem.

Are you sure its from the rear of the vehicle. I'm asking this because I recently fixed an Mustang convert with a squeek noise. The driver (dealerships owner's duaghter) said the noise happened while braking in the rear. The noise was actually the front control bushings, I replaced the control arms and the noise is gone. There is a TSB or a SSM for this concern I'll look for the numbers and vehicle production date cutoff. :thumbsup

Default Rear is singing?

Might want to make sure the control arms are in good shape and see if there is any bushings cracked. Have you been doing burn outs? How about launching? If so might want to take a good look at the rear and have this car lifted and get a good look at things from the back. On my 89GT I had the same problem and then I had it lifted and realized the control arms where cracked and done and the torque boxes where starting to go and under my rear seat a hair line cracked started to go all because I ignored the squeaks for about two months until I took a good look at things.

I have a 92 with 120k mi and don't have squeaks, plenty of other problems though. Ever driven a camaro with 100k? Or even looked at all the leaks underneath? Ford builds a lot more quality into it's sports cars than most other manufacturers dollar for dollar. Bushings sound like a good bet, possibly tie rod ends.

Default Got my squeaks yesturday.

I just got my first squeks yesturday. Not really bothersom. I was starting to wonder about them till I found this post. Well I guess I should go get it lifted and look at the bushings. If all is good I will enjoy my newest mustang perk.
