Taking the H-pipe off of my car to chande the trans unfortunately damaged the headers(which means i need performance ones of course). So i was wondering what headers everyone would recomend as inexpenceive but still a good performance gain for the dollar in my current setup. I was thinking about MAC Unequal 1 5/8's and where would you think i could find headers to be the least expensive?
I would be very careful using any MAC products. They are the cheapest in price, consequently that can affect many things. The cold air tube I purchased had parts from two different kits. They sent me another one. It was incomplete too. Between the two I was able to assemble one complete kit. Technical support treated me extremely poorly, even at a manager level. Their underdrive pullies were not engineered properly either. The belt was rubbing between the idler and the water pump and causing premature wear. I called technical support again and was treated poorly. I had to go to a local dealer and rummage through a parts bin to find a slightly smaller pulley to make it work. I faxed the receipt with part # on it to tech support asking for a partial credit....no luck. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER MAC PRODUCT OR RECOMMEND ONE. Enough said.....
Yeah, I have read over and over again about the poor customer support from MAC. Plus I think their headers don't have a one piece flange which can cause sealing problems down the road. You can usually pick up a set real cheap on the various forum classifieds, but I wouldn't take a chance on a used MAC product. They are cheap for a reason...so you can afford to buy some replacements when they fail!
Hey, Ive had wonderful success with mac. Everything I have bougten from them has worked awesome! Customer support treated me great. You probbaly made them mad when you started demanding etc...
I WOULD RECOMMEND MAC PERFORMANCE PRODUCTS TO ANYONE

That's great Mack I'm glad you have had a good experience with them. I did not on two occasions. I did not demand anything from them. Had problems with two different parts. The second time I had a problem I asked if they would do something for me in the way of a credit. The head technician in LA was having a hard time believing me (this was insulting) and asked me to fax him a copy of the invoice of the smaller pulley. I asked him if he would give me a partial credit. He said he would consider it. I faxed it to him (so basically I did the research for a suitable solution complete with part # from a ford dealership and my cost to fax to him). And what did he do for me NOTHING.
I bought a larger BBK throttle body and headers and have been happy as a clam....no problems....awesome workmanship....great technical support.
If someone wants to buy a product to modify, fabricate and do their own R&D, then I would go the MAC route. Let's just hope that they don't start manufacturing airbags or children's carseats.

I have not purchased anything from them, I am just basing my opinion on the derth of negative posts over on the Corral and Stangnet. Same reason I do not buy from Excessive. I don't have to wait to get hit with the stick to know it is going to hurt.
They Are the best there is. The fit is perfect, they come with kick ass reausable gaskets, they are ceramic coated, and they have a stepped design that makes superior hp numbers
i like mac because they are inexpensive and i got their gauges, headers and am going to get the cold air. on the headers i have one problem that they couldnt help me with and were not very cheery either. The egr tube doesnt get close to reaching and i cant figure anything out!! this is ticking me off but im willing to try anything so if anyones got ideas im willing!! they made the car sound louder at idle and not bubble when revved quickly and high

I am on my second MAC exhaust. Everything fit like a glove. Well, except for the excessive HTS coating on the egr fitting. Took it to a shop to have them grind it down a bit. Anyway, IMO, MAC makes cheap products that work. However, I had to drive to their Temecula office to discuss the egr problem mentioned above. Again, I HAD to go there because of their lack of caring, if you will, with my problem. First appearances are everything and the first thing I noticed was the lack of a sign or banner or anything announcing that I was at MAC. The front office and beyond was messy with papers, boxes, just crap everywhere. Very trailer trash looking. The way they dressed, acted, conducted business, is what I would term..........UNPROFESSIONAL.
A bunch of no-talent ass clowns IMHO. I really think I will try someone else next time I need an exahust.
