Default Tranny Question

Will a 1995 Mustang 3.8 5 speed work on a 289? I am swaping to a 5 speed and found a great deal on a complete motor and tranny from a 1995 3.8 Mustang. I just want the tranny, will it work? I already have the correct bell housing for the V8.
Please e-mail or PM me
Mike

Yes and NO, the inputshaft of the 3.8 is longer than the one used in a FOX T5 (that is a bolt-on deal), that will set the shifter farther away from the engine (closer to you).
Because of that you need to shorten the driveshaft, and will need to use the 3.8 bellhousing with a 10.5 flywheel correctly balanced for the 289.

Also, the 3.8 T5 also uses an electronic speed sensor (magneto type), and cant adapt a speedo cable to it.

You need to use a FOX T5.
