Default Keeps dying at low RPM's

I'm sorry guys, but this isn't Mustang related though it is Ford related. I figured the best place to go for this problem was here. I have a 91 Explorer and for some reason now, it will studder and sometimes die at low RPM's. Like if you're sitting at a stop light or something. We've replaced the vacuum lines. I don't know much about fuel injection and that garbage and I know you guys do. Please help, thank you.

Could be the IAC valve, its on the throttle body, clean it with TB cleaner and reinstall, or get a new one.

I shall check into it. What exactly does it look like or just something to tell me how to locate it on the throttle body.

Also, what does IAC(Idle Air Control?) stand for?

Also, after looking at the $60 price tag on a new one, how can I tell for sure if that's it or not? I mean, the $60 is worth it if it fixes the problem, but if it doesn't, then I'm out $60

To locate the throttle body, follow your air intake tube coming from your airbox (where the filter is). It'll lead up to your throttle body. Your throttle cable will be attached to this.

IAC stands for Idle Air Control.

You can tell if you need a new one or not because your car will usually have a check engine light on. Run your engine codes even if a check engine light isn't showing up (you can find more info on this probably at an Explorer forum). I would try adjusting the screw on your throttle body so it opens up more air and raises your idle.

What size engine do you have?

Yeah, I knew where the throttle body was, just not the IAC specifically. Also, the Check Engine has come on a few times but then goes off after 10 seconds or so. Both times were when it was idling in a drive-thru(hey, I gotta eat ). The engine is the stock 4.0L. Does anyone know how to check the engine codes on this? I'll try to find the manual but we bought it used and I'm not sure if we even have the manual.

I have a 90 LX that had a similar problem. I took apart the IAC and cleaned it with throttle body cleaner but it did not fix my problem. I then turned up the idle about a half turn and it fixed my problem.
