Default Front Suspension Question?....Problem.

I just bought my second stang. A 1990 GT Hatch. My first does not have this problem.

The front end is very very touching to bumps. And the car vibrates, shimmies when driviing. Definately at freeway speeds. It shakes the wheel.

The Left tie rod end boot was missing so I replaced it and the tie rod ends, and ball joints are still good.

It does need an alignment since the the front toe is out. But That would not cause the the shaking. Maybe some of it but not to this extent.

The only other thing I can think of would be the front struts... ....They still seem to dampen a little but on some bumps I will get a bounce after.

Do I sound right? That the struts are shot?

Shaking is probably an out of balance tire or damaged tire. But could also be an issue with a brake rotor being warped.
I whould get an alignment, and have have front wheels checked for balance and go from there. If it's been out of alignment for awhile, I'd guess it's more likely a tire wear issue causing the problem. But start with the stuff it really needs, an alignment, and the stuff thats cheap, check tires for damage and balance before going on the pricey stuff.

The rims and tires are new. The shaking and vibrating was happening with the original rims and tires..(stock) SO it can't be a tire issue. But I put a set of new Cobra R rims ready to go onto it with new tires. They were balanced but I had discount tire rebalance them. And it still did it.

It has to be a worn suspension part. I already have a set of New Front Struts on hand KYB GR-2's....And to save me time and anguish I will have them installed by a place I trust.

The rotors are fine. Their is no shimming when braking.

I will hopefully have everything fixed tomorrow.

Just covering the easy stuff first. You say the ball joints are ok, did you check the control arm bushings? Any thumping noise up front? Stabilizer end link's or end link bushings chould cause a little bit of problem, but you can usually hear them if link is broken. To be on the safe side, I'd also check the wheel bearings for proper preload.
You will know alot more when the strut's go in, chould be bad strut rod bushings causing some problems also. They don't come with the strut's so you might want to get some for the shop doing the install. Stock are fine, I use SVO bushings but these are fairly pricey.
