hello,
im new to this amv forum. i own a 94 mustang gt and im having problems with it. i was just wondering if you might know what was wrong, i was reading a lot of postings but i cant seem to find my specific problem. so i decided to ask you
well it seems like im getting no power at lower rpms (around 1500) then around 2-3000 it picks up then past 3000 it seems to power out like it has nothing left. also, it seems as if its choking or not getting enough gas when i floor it. so i never push my gas down all the way. thanks for the help.
Owen, it sounds like it could be fuel related. The symptoms you describe could be caused by a dirty fuel filter that needs to be replaced. It could also be spark related but it really does sound like its the filter. When was the last time the fuel filter was changed.

Wow thanks for replying so fast, man you guys are smart. well, actually i just got a basic tune up last week, im kind of mechanically inclined but i would love to learn more.
could also be a dirty MAF sensor unless you cleaned that as well. Also your Throttle Position sensor might have an issue finding its Wide Open Throttle mark.. Scott's the man, I agree it sounds like fuel. but some sensors can be tricky like that.
ahh cool thanks ill have that checked out this week, also i was wondering how much it would cost to switch my gears to 3.73? another thing i was wondering was are the LX style 5L's lighter than the newer gt models? heheh and one more question please when i accelerate and i have weight in the car i can here almost like a rubbing noise, i think its my shocks, but some of my buds say it could be my struts? thanks for all the help it is greatly appreciated.
New gears usually run around the $200 mark. Installs cost anywhere from $200-$600 depending on who you go with.
The LX or Fox bodies were lighter than the 94+ cars called Fox-4 Platforms or (more commonly SN95's.) The redesign was Mass Air Vs. Speed density plus styling changes. I believe the 95 GT convertible is one of the heaviest in existance today. lol. Where does the rubbing sound like its coming from? back or front? It could be shocks the rubber bellows sometimes gets worn and can cause the upper casing to rub on the lower. If you can see them, see if paint is ground of on a particular side this should give you a clue. Also try bouncing the car when its stationary.
Yes it is possible to check the sensors without a mechanic but I will have to get back to you on the exact proceedure. I dont want to tell you the wrong thing. Perhaps someone else can fill me in here.
I know if you want to clean the Mass Air Flow sensor, pick up some sensor-safe cleaner and spray it lightly.. make sure it wont hurt the MAF or the 02 sensor. should say right on the bottle. As far as the Throttle body TPS... you can check your voltage going to it.. use a digital meter, ground the black and stick a needle in the green wire on the TPS on the throttle body and attach the red lead. turn the key to the on position. you should get a reading from .6-.9 if not that may need adjustment or replacing....
I will try to get 100% accuracy on these statements.. but this wont hurt just to check.
actually when you turn on the key to check the tps you should have a reading around .97. if not then loosen the two screws and slowly move the tps until you reach the correct setting. you probably wont have to, but you may need to elongate the holes on the tps where the screws go in order to move it enough....but most likely youll be able to get the correct adjustment without doing that.

about the gears....youll might have to buy an installation kit also....i bought one for $100, but ended up not using it at all when i put my gears in.
