Default Changing the Rear and Trans Fuilds

When I bought this car I was told that there is synthetic in both the rear and the trans. I would like to change and replace both just to make sure that there is. I am a decent mechanic but do not know eveything about change these fuilds. Is better off for me to take it to like Jiffy Lube or another mechanic to do this or should I be capable of doing this myself. And if so how would I go about changing them ?? I already use Mobil 1 synthetic for my engine, What weight should I use for the trans and rear in my car thanks.

I'm assuming its a 5 speed.
The T-5 specifies ATF to be used, but I use Castrol Syntec 75W90 and have had no problems. Changing the fluid is a bit of a bit@# due to the location of the filler plug. If you have a hoist or good jack stands and a fluid pump it is not that bad, however if you don't it is easoer to pay someone to do it for you.
As for the rear, use the Syntec 75W90 and you will have to remove the rear cover to get the fluid out. Not as bad as it sounds, just a little messy. Put some new silicone gasket maker on there and put the cover back on. No big deal.

And try to do it outside If you do have to do this in the garage, make sure you have a fan going with the doors to your house shut, the rear end oil is very bad smelling and lingers around for a few days.

For the tranny I run GM Synchrmesh. I have a Z-T5 that was a little noisy with the regualr ATF, going to the Synchromesh made the tranny shift a little bit smoother and made it less noisy, the stuff is expensive, but even a Dodge Viper calls for GM Synchrmesh tranny fluid.
